CHA is funded solely from adoption fees, donations from the public, and our own fundraising efforts with events like our annual Dog Jog and Paws to Party. We were formed as Citizens for Humane Action in 1975 by three friends who noticed the growing number of stray dogs and cats in Central Ohio.

Milo, Milo, Milo! He's a smart, active boy seeking a family to go on adventures with. This boy is smart and eager to learn more. He already knows Sit, Down, Shake and engages in loose leash walking when asked. He greets everyone with a wiggly body and enthusiasm. Milo will excel with continued reward-based training as he continues to learn more tricks and works on his four-on-the-floor greetings. When meeting new dogs, he is excited and wiggly and wants to play. Milo was originally adopted a few months ago and somehow found himself being surrendered to another shelter and transferred back to CHA. He is definitely in his gangly "teenage" months and has some growing and filling out to do but Milo is sure to bring his new family lots of joy and smiles. Milo is an exhuberant boy who would be best in a home with more mature children.

Jake was brought to us by a Good Samaritan who found him running loose in the bitter cold. He is a happy dude who loves to walk and sniff...everything (hounds are gonna hound). The person who found him told us he loves other dogs and loves going to the dog park. He loves attention and is very food motivated. Jake will need someone committed to providing him with training and structure so he is a well-adjusted, well-mannered dog. Meet Jake today!

Lucy and Bri came to us due to housing issues of their prior owner. These sweet girls are very reserved here at the shelter. Shy but sweet introverts find this environment overwhelming, and they prefer to hang out on the top shelf of their cage rather than come to the front for affection. But once you take a moment to pet these girls, you'll see that they are quiet beauties who need a calm home for them to feel more at ease. They are a 2-for-1 deal and must go together. Dominique says HELLO! This sweet 2 year-old girl can’t wait to meet her future family. She was brought to us by a Good Samaritan after being abandoned in a pet store parking lot. Her favorite things include making biscuits, playing with wand toys, and sleeping in bed with her people. Come say hello to Dominique today!
