The first of two new flyover ramps at the I-26 and I-95 interchange is now open to traffic! 👏

Traffic traveling from I-95 South to I-26 East has been shifted to the first completed flyover ramp, alleviating congestion and improving the flow of traffic between the two interstates! 🚗🚛

The existing loop ramp from I-95 South to I-26 has been closed for demolition. SCDOT contractors are still working on the second new flyover ramp between I-95 North and I-26 West, which is on schedule to be completed before the end of the year!

Paving and safety improvements are wrapping up on this Chester County route.

About two miles of asphalt repairs are being made at the section of J.A Cochran Bypass that runs from Columbia Street to SC 72, West End Road. A new pedestrian crossing has also been installed across from Chester High School.

These upgrades will help make a safer road for this section of J.A Cochran Bypass, which sees approximately 8400 vehicles a day.

Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of October.

SCDOT is hard at work replacing the SC 9 bridge over Wildcat Creek in Lancaster County. The new bridge is being built alongside the current one so traffic can continue flowing smoothly throughout construction.

Once completed, the roadway will be realigned and traffic will shift to the new structure. The old bridge will then be demolished. The upgraded bridge will feature a modern design, wider lanes, and improved sightlines for drivers.

Construction is expected to be complete by late fall 2027. 🚧

Sometimes, simpler is better! 👷 After analyzing and inspecting the bridge on SC 418 over Arnold Creek in Spartanburg County, SCDOT engineers determined that a box culvert was a better fit for this location than a replacement bridge. The result? A more cost-effective solution that requires less maintenance over time! 🚧

SCDOT recently wrapped up a road improvement project in Allendale County, and the results are *borderline* amazing. 😎

Our team upgraded four miles of US 301, starting just east of the South Carolina-Georgia border line and ending right before River Road.

This is another example of how SCDOT is working to improve rural roadways across our state! 🤝
