Smith Pak Working Dogs SPWD is a K9 company that specializes in the training & implementation of professional working dogs

Dave and Monique Smith formed Smith Pak because We love our dogs! We have spent years looking for the best lineage, the most awesome dogs and originally wanted them for us to work, train and do stuff with. We have grown to love the breed, established incredible mentors and friendships and those who are true breeders to guide us! We work with some of the best kennels in Czech to establish our lines and begin our kennel here in the states. We strive to be the best we can be and do the best we can for each and every dog we have, that we get to have a part of and who touch our lives!

Meet the Pak Monday — Tiki Vom Smith Pak
Meet Tiki!

Tiki is one seriously cool young pup! She is a certified Explosives Detection K9 partnered with one of our amazing handlers, Linda O’Brien. Tiki lives and trains with us here at Smith Pak and, despite her young age, already has several high-level assignments under her belt.

Tiki is always happy, incredibly funny, and extremely observant. She has a personality that keeps us laughing daily and is simply a joy to have around. When it’s time to work, though, Tiki knows her job and continues to impress us with her abilities.

In her off time, Tiki loves going for walks, stalking around the property in search of anything worth chasing, and, of course, playing with her favorite Kong toys.
We absolutely love this girl and are so grateful to Linda for sharing her with us and allowing her to be such a special part of the Smith Pak family. We can’t wait to see all that this talented young K9 accomplishes!

Service Highlight: Dogs & Puppies for Sale

*We have both puppies and older dogs available now!*

We specialize in East German Working Line German Shepherds, with our original dams and sires imported from Slovakia.

We take tremendous pride in the quality, health, temperament, and working ability of our dogs. Every dog and puppy we produce is backed by health and working guarantees, along with lifetime breeder support.

Each of our breeding dogs undergoes comprehensive health testing prior to being bred. We also carefully evaluate temperament, drives, character, and working ability to help ensure our dogs possess the traits necessary to succeed—whether that means becoming a trusted family companion or performing in a working role.

We understand that a puppy isn't the right fit for everyone. We can also assist with sourcing and training older dogs based on your individual needs, experience, lifestyle, and intended purpose.

Whether you're looking for a family companion, working prospect, or a trained adult dog, our goal is to help match you with the right dog for you.

Meet the Pak Monday — Uzak Vom Smith Pak
Meet Uzak!

Uzak is a highly motivated Explosives Detection K9 and one of Mo’s primary partners. Together, they make an exceptional team, and Uzak has proven time and time again to be reliable, focused, and incredibly dedicated to his work.

Throughout his career thus far, Uzak has supported many of our highest-level contracts, helping provide a critical layer of safety and security for countless people at the venues he serves. His drive, consistency, and ability to perform when it matters most make him an invaluable member of the Smith Pak team.

Uzak isn’t much for downtime—if it were up to him, he’d work constantly! When off time is non-negotiable, he’ll happily settle for a good game of fetch.

We couldn’t be prouder of this guy and everything he has accomplished. At only three years old, Uzak already has an impressive career behind him—and an incredibly bright future ahead.
Keep up the great work, Uzak!

Happy Birthday, Diesel!

Help us wish a very Happy 8th Birthday to Diesel!

Diesel is enjoying this birthday in semi-retirement, but he still loves putting that nose to work with small searches whenever he gets the chance. When he’s not searching, you can usually find this hyper, hilarious, slightly aloof guy doing what he loves most-playing ball!

Happy Birthday, Diesel! We hope your day is filled with plenty of searches, lots of ball time, and maybe a few extra treats!

Meet the Pak Monday — Wh***ey Vom Smith Pak

Meet Wh***ey!

Mr. Wh***ey is a very talented and well-traveled young man. He has worked on many of our highest-level contracts alongside his handler, Dave, and has proven time and time again that he’s very good at what he does.

Wh***ey is chill, laid-back, friendly, and an all-around great dog. He makes friends everywhere he goes, but when it’s time to work, he knows how to get the job done.

As much as Wh***ey enjoys his work, he loves his off-time too! His favorite activities include sleeping in the sunshine, getting all the love, and going on impromptu adventures with his dad and favorite person in the world, Dave.

We’re grateful to have such a talented, easygoing, and lovable guy as part of the Smith Pak.

We Will Never Forget — 9/11

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Among those heroes were hundreds of working K9s and their handlers who searched tirelessly through the devastation. These incredible dogs climbed unstable rubble, worked through smoke and debris, searched for survivors, helped recover the fallen, and provided comfort during unimaginable grief.

Their courage, determination, and willingness to work beside their handlers remind us just how important working dogs can be when they are needed most.

Today, we honor every life lost, every first responder who answered the call, and the remarkable K9s who worked tirelessly beside them.

We will never forget.
