This is one of the coolest accidents I’ve ever produced gardening! Huitlacoche also known as corn Truffle is a Mexican delicacy that I have managed to get two of this year!
It does in fact taste exactly like truffle with more sweetness and lingering earthiness. I’ve gotten probably a hundred pounds of fruit and vegetables from my small garden so far this year and this is by far what I’m the most proud of!

This week Cainan had his most incredible bull ride so far! In just 2 1/2months since he started this all, he has developed some serious riding ability! He decided to put those skills to the test on the toughest bull at practice and showed us all exactly how talented he is!
We are so thankful to everyone there for their cheers and support of our oldest boy💙💙💙

BCR has spent the week in Canada and Minnesota to honor one of the most amazing people we have had the pleasure to be a part of our lives. If you have known us in the last 13 years, you either had heard a lot about Midge or met her!
A year after meeting her and her husband Dan, we asked them to be the boys chosen Grandparents. They and their daughter Nicole became the family we had always wanted, and are truly the greatest blessing we desperately hoped for.

Midge had one of the most influential roles in the boys childhood and taught them many life lessons and shared countless and priceless wisdom with them both. She loved them as her own in a way most people never get to be loved. As an avid fisherwoman, one of her favorite skills was teaching the boys to fish. It has become one of the many things she taught them, that they have grown to love deeply.
Thank you so much to Dan and Nicole for including us in the honorary fishing expedition and a week of memorializing one of the most incredible people we get to call family.
We truly love you Midge❤️

Thanks to Chris always buying me new kitchen toys, like this grinder and sausage stuffer, we made our very first batch of sausage!
This mix is a home blend of venison taken by Cainan last fall and pork belly from our heritage hogs we raised. Added a bunch of jalapeños from the garden and heavily seasoned with salt, pepper, paprika, raw garlic and onions then smoked for about an hour

Some random goings on this week! Everything from a nearly de-gloved finger at bull riding to the garden to our mini horse mascot… we are really enjoying this summer so far with the boys❤️

They say when you’re a man, there’s no man in the world who wants you to be better or do better than them. Unless it’s your dad and you’re lucky if you even have that.

Chris pushes the boys daily to be better than him. To grow from his mistakes or hard learned lessons.
To be gentle, even when they are angry. To be strong and kind and caring. To be disciplined, in spite of what the world says is ok or normal.
Every accomplishment they have ever had, or will ever have, he is standing by cheering for them and pushing them to become better men.

Thank you for all your sacrifices to make the boys dreams come true❤️

Our little garden has been abundant with lots of peppers thanks to Chris always surprising me with new spicer varieties each year! Nothing says summer here at BCR like traditional Sonoran Ceviche! Amped up with habanero, jalapeño, garlic and onion roasted salsa, then topped with salsa Maggi and avocado. We love it so much, we make a gallon plus at a time!

It’s hard to believe the boys are only 6 weeks into this, with a total of 12 bulls.
They have definitely secured a signature BCR flip dismount! Now to just land on their feet!
We are so excited at the caliber of bulls they got on last night and they both put in some unbelievable practice rides.
