I took empty cat carriers back to the local animal shelter after releasing fixed feral cats and was asked if I was interested in bringing home a rooster and possibly an ill hen.
The rooster (forgot to get pics) is a handsome and completely healthy Leghorn. Quite young as his spurs are just little nubs.
The poor hen on the other hand has fowl pox. Since it’s highly contagious she has been completely separated and quarantined in the bunkhouse under the care of our new ranch hand. First round of medication swabbed on her blisters and scabs removed from her mouth. Since her case is advanced (although no breathing issues), it could take up to a month to get her healed.
