From the Heart Animal Rescue

From the Heart Animal Rescue Our mission is to serve the underserved -- the abandoned, orphaned, abused, injured and special needs

With unbounded love and an intense dedication to those unwanted by others, FTH works hard to give chances to dogs which other rescues and humane societies do not. Dogs are given individual attention in a loving foster home while recovering physically or emotionally from their previous lives. Our volunteers then work diligently to find a loving, thoroughly screened forever home, where they will get

the second chance they deserve, enhacing both their lives and those of their new humans. There are many rescues and humane societies which take adoptable animals … but so many times, animals are left behind because they may need extra care (medical or emotional) before they become adoptable. That’s where From The Heart comes in … From The Heart is a coalition of experienced volunteers, dedicated to caring for the hurt and frightened victims of accident, disease, cruelty and neglect. We provide life-saving surgeries, medications and special care that other organizations are not able or willing to give. Once restored to health, we then work diligently to find each animal a permanent loving home.

The race is on! The stands are open and fireworks have already started. We have already been receiving the emails about dogs missing due to fireworks. Normally in Texas, the fireworks stands would close at the end of business on the 4th but this year for America's 250th birthday, the legislature have extended sales through the 5th.

Protect your pets. Make sure they are wearing a collar and tag. If you do not have a tag, take a piece of masking tape, write your phone number on it, and wrap it around the collar sticking the ends together. Make sure your gates are secured. If your dog is very scared take them out on a leash even in your own backyard. Dogs have been known to go through windows because of fear. Keep them SAFE

ATTENTION!!

You have 3 weeks to prepare for Fourth of July. If you have pets that do not do well with fireworks, now is the time to schedule a vet appointment to get or refill meds. Ask your vet about a medication called Sileo. This medicine is designed for noise related fears. It reduces the panic without knocking your pup out. Ask your vet if it would work for your pup.

3 weeks give you time to buy a box fan or a white noise machine. Both of these can be used to help cover the noise. 3 weeks to get your fences and gates fixed and secure.

The fifth of July is the busiest day at shelters for lost and found pets to be turned in. Do everything you can to protect your pet and keep them calm and at home.

Comment below with your tricks and tips to keep pets calm during fireworks and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will be nearing 100° this week. We've already seen some record highs this past week. Please keep an eye on your pets and people. By law in Texas, you are outside animals must have access to shade to escape the heat and drinkable, clean water. Please take caution when you walk your dogs. Try to schedule a walk early in the morning or after the sun has set. Remember, pavement retains heat even after the sun is gone, so double-check it's not too hot for their paws. And never leave your pets in a car while you run in "just real quick." And leaving the window cracked does nothing to affect the temperature inside the car.

As we step into a new year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on everything your support made possible. Because of you, dogs who once knew fear now know safety. Dogs who were overlooked now sleep in warm homes. Dogs who needed time, patience, and love finally got their chance.

Your kindness, your donations, your shares, your fosters, your adoptions — every act of support has shaped our year in ways words can barely capture. You’ve stood with us through the tough cases and celebrated every victory right alongside us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Here’s to hope, second chances, and the incredible community that makes rescue possible. And we’re honored to have you with us on that journey.

Happy New Year from all of us — two-legged and four-legged alike.
