Specialized Saddles founder, David Kaden, started competing in the sport of endurance racing in 1999. David’s love for horses led to the development of an adjustable saddle, which he ultimately received a patent for. He now owns a top endurance saddle manufacturing company

There’s trail riding… and then there’s the Victorian High Country.

Rob Featonby takes on the steep hills and rugged terrain of Australia’s Victorian High Country in his Specialized Ultralight. Long climbs, steep descents, and challenging country like this are exactly where keeping a saddle lightweight, balanced, and properly fitted can make such a difference for both horse and rider.

At approximately 9 lbs., the Specialized Ultralight keeps unnecessary weight off the horse while our adjustable fit system allows the saddle to be fitted to the individual horse—especially important when you’re spending long hours and serious miles in the saddle.

This is the kind of riding we love to see: getting out there, covering country, and trusting your horse and your equipment to take you places most people will never experience!

Maria had an incredible run in endurance, earning 8 race wins and completing six one-day 100-mile rides while in the U.S. — all while riding in her Specialized Saddles Eurolight.

There’s something pretty hard to beat about a saddle covered from front to back in full floral tooling.

Full floral is our most detailed tooling option, with the design hand-tooled throughout the saddle for a look that’s completely its own.

One of the best parts of building a custom Specialized Saddle is making it your own — from leather and seat colors to conchos, hardware and, of course, the tooling.

Throwback Thursday!

Taking it back to 2017 with Marcelle Hughes and Oliver Swift, who had an incredible day at the Indian Springs Endurance Ride, finishing 1st in the 50-mile ride and earning Best Condition!

Marcelle and Oliver Swift tackled the miles in their Specialized Trailmaster, built to provide the adjustability, comfort, and security needed for long days on the trail. Finishing first is an accomplishment in itself, but pairing that win with Best Condition makes this one especially worth looking back on!

There’s nothing better than seeing a horse and rider loving their new saddle!

Brenda recently received a new Specialized Ultralight for her mare, and it’s already a hit. 💙

She customized her black Ultralight with a royal blue smooth flat seat, starry night edge tooling, engraved rope conchos, stainless steel hardware, and footman’s loops on both the cantle and pommel.

At approximately 9 lbs, the Ultralight combines an incredibly lightweight, close-contact design with our patented 3-D Adjustable Fit System—and Brenda’s custom blue accents made this one uniquely hers.

A special thank you to Specialized Saddles rep Heidi Helly for helping Brenda along the way. We hope you and your mare enjoy many happy miles in your new saddle, Brenda!

Congratulations to Ashley Cheng and Morning on another great ride together!

Ashley and Morning took on the 25-mile Limited Distance ride at Horseshoe Bend Boogie on August 15, finishing 3rd overall and earning some of their best vet scores yet. Even with a few challenges along the way, the pair had a fantastic ride and a great day out on the trail.

Ashley rides in her Specialized Saddles Ultralight, fitted by Specialized Saddles rep David Galentine. We love seeing this team continue to put in the miles together!
