SDiT Bumi on a new outing!
We don’t often go to live music and bars but it was a special occasion and a great exposure training for Bumi and she did awesome!

Streaky is great for puppies and has always been expertly appropriate when reprimanding them for rude behavior while still engaging and encouraging curiosity!

New B&T Harley!
Harley is here for a behavioural modification program to address some serious issues preventing her owner from being able to enjoy pet ownership to its fullest. So we’re here to help bring that enjoyment back to their relationship!

This is not a thrilling video, but it shows a small glimpse into things a service dog can do that makes a huge difference to a disabled person.
Krypto is my personal service dog and one task he is trained to perform is item retrieval. Many think this is just a trick and the person is just being lazy. For us, and for several clients we’ve trained dogs for, this task is indescribably useful. Bending over to pick up an item, even one small sock, can cause syncope (fainting), dizzy spells, vision spotting/irregularities, and other similar symptoms. Sometimes these symptoms last only moments, and sometimes it leads to further symptoms that can linger throughout the day.
So no, maybe not an impressive video to watch, but a great task for those who need it and a good pup doing his helpful job 🐕‍🦺

SDiT Bumi had a great outing today! This was her first time in public with a wheelchair and she did great! She has trouble with the ‘under’ command on this wheelchair because it’s such a snug fit, and we don’t really ask her to perform it because it would be very uncomfortable for her to stay there, but it’s a great skill to ask to remain engaged and her demonstrating the want to give effort letting us know where she is mentally.
Her tasks for her owner will require wheelchair assistance as well as she will be required to be off leash at times to perform required tasks, which is why we left the leash off.
She waited patiently in line but today for some reason was a little distracted by the lady behind us but maintained her down near us while waiting in line.
She does need to work on laying closer to the wheelchair, this is a bad habit of hers overall wanting to take up more space, but for this outing we picked things we had goals over and that was not something we wanted to nitpick on and instead have a great happy and positive working outing with the wheelchair 🦽
Nice job Bumi!!

SDiT Bumi had an interesting encounter this afternoon! This is yet another example of why service dogs need to be prepared environmentally for as much as possible because anything can happen on an outing.
Yes, cats are a pretty normal sight on walks and at parks, but some dogs can get riled up seeing something they’re used to in an unexpected situation. Cats are not something you expect to see in a store! But Bumi handled it like a champ, glanced at it and kept right on working and going about our errand running. We went past this person several times through shopping and eventually asked the owner if we could take a quick photo, that she obviously said yes to lol.
As a notice, in CA and most states cats are not a legal use service animal, only dogs and mini horses are. And Wal-Mart is also not pet friendly (despite how many people decide to bring pets inside), so the cats technically should not have been in the store, but it made for a great training experience!
Video in comments (can’t post videos and pictures in the same post for some reason 🤦‍♀️)
