I’ve been giving this A LOT of thought lately. The more I adjust to being a full-time new mom, the more I realize that I may still be able to continue doing what I love—it may just require a little more patience and balance. ❤️

Rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming guinea pigs has been such a huge part of my life, and it means the absolute world to me. Knowing I can make even a small difference in this cruel world makes it so hard to imagine closing our doors and turning away lives that need us.

We are considering staying open or transitioning to sanctuary ONLY, which would mean keeping things small because, unfortunately, we simply can’t save them all.

If we stay open, we will need consistent weekly and monthly financial support from our followers. Last month we raised nearly $1,000, which doesn’t go very far, but it’s much better than the months we barely reached $300. I simply can’t continue covering rescue expenses from mine or my husband’s pockets, as it puts a lot of stress on our personal finances.

This is NOT 100% decided yet, and I don’t want to make promises, but right now, we are leaning more toward staying open. 🥹❤️

I wanted to keep everyone updated on where things stand. I’ll be posting tomorrow about our current needs.

And THANK YOU to everyone who has sent hideys, pellets, Vitamin C cookies, and other supplies. Every single donation, big or small, truly means the world to us—and especially to the guinea pigs.

‼️ FOSTER NEEDED! ‼️

Please welcome Mango & Pineapple, formerly Valentine & Cupid! 🍍

These sweet girls originally came to us as babies after being unexpectedly born to piggies purchased from a pet store. Nearly 4 years later, life circumstances have brought them back into our care. ❤️

They’re both a little timid and need some extra love, patience, and socialization before they’re ready for their forever home. We’re looking for a foster home willing to help these girls come out of their shells! 🥰

Never fostered before? It’s a great way to experience guinea pig care without the long-term commitment. We provide the cage, houses, pellets, hay, and supplies—you provide the love! 🩷

Interested in fostering Mango & Pineapple? Send us a message and fill out our foster application below!

Batman is looking absolutely amazing!! He is one of the six piggies that was recently dumped on us. Due to his arthritis and ongoing palliative care, he is a sanctuary piggy. This boy now weighs in at 1001 grams, he was only around 600 grams when he was first dumped. Batman’s coloring is more vibrant and shiny with all the love and TLC he is now receiving! Amazing what a proper diet and love will do 💚

The first set of 3 photos are BEFORE and the last four photos are him currently. The first pictures were also taken about 1-2 weeks in our care, so not even the worst. I think you can still easily see the improvement!

Picked up 4 big bunches of Dandelions as a treat for the piggies!! This is a HIGH calcium veggie, so feed in moderation and it tends to be a little pricy ($3 per bunch). Thank you to those who donate so we can spoil these sweet babies 🩷

It was a really tough August…..

We experienced a lot of loss last month (part of the reason for my silence, I was coping) the time I knew would come when we’d be losing senior piggies back to back.

August we lost sweet Tater, he was originally adopted through us alongside his brother Tot. He came to live with us a couple months ago after his family had to move back to Finland. Sadly his family lost sweet Tot right before moving and Tater had a guaranteed forever spot here while his family made a tough adjustment in a different country. They would have brought Tater had it been possible!

We also lost our sweet Treasure who we rescued from Treasure Island near San Francisco, where he was dumped on the beach in the big boulders. My husband and Treasure had an unbreakable bond. He was a neutered male and leaves behind his lover, Jay Jay (Female), she is taking the loss pretty hard (fighting anyone we’ve placed her with).

We lost a bonded set of senior piggies as well, not sure if it was due to a broken heart or the fact that Chip & Dale were both just very old boys, Chip being the oldest at 8 years old.

Losing piggies whether they are young, old or we experience so much loss, it all hurts just as much. The longer they’re here, the deeper of a bond we form with these piggies. You never get too numb to loss. We have so many senior/sanctuary piggies, some who are on daily pain medications for comfort care…. I know these won’t be the last to pass on, I’m just dreading the continuous heart break to come…. The only thing that helps me continue to push through, is knowing that each and every individual piggy knows true love and care before passing on!

Here is to the sweet piggies we’ve lost in August and before then! Each month, we will have a post reflecting back on those lost, this way we can honor them! Rest in paradise and fields of greens my sweet loves 💚

PHEW….. I am very sore!! My wonderful husband watched our baby so I could scrub down some of the wooden tunnel hides! I can’t believe the amount of color that bleeds off the rainbow tunnels, I figure it’s a good thing most of it washes away. It can’t be good for the pigs, but those tunnels used to be super inexpensive, which is why we had so many. We eventually want to switch to all plastic pigloos, as it’s easier to clean, way more sanitary, but the 3 packs of XL are $60! We’ve got a handful of the medium size, but those generally only work for the smaller piggies. Our bigger female herd does best with the wooden tunnels, so I am doing my best to sanitize by spraying them and scrubbing with Dawn Power Wash soap and 50/50 vinegar and water, then placing them in the sun to fully dry to prevent mold and rot.

‼️‼️ THE RESCUE NEEDS YOU NOW ‼️‼️

❤️❤️ DONATIONS NEEDED NOW ❤️❤️

I’m going to be completely honest with you all because we truly need help right now. 💔

We cannot continue doing this alone. We’ve been covering rescue expenses out of our own pockets, including utilities, and it’s beginning to seriously affect our personal finances. Most of what we’ve received lately has only been enough to cover some of our vegetables—and even those donations have been very limited.

Since our vegetable post last night, we’ve only raised $100. 😔

I’m genuinely worried and, honestly, completely burnt out. One of the reasons I’ve felt like giving up and stepping away from rescue is because the support we once had just isn’t there anymore. I LOVE these animals with my whole heart, and caring for them is something I will always cherish, but I simply cannot continue sacrificing our own household bills to keep the rescue running—especially now that we have a new baby and additional expenses at home.

I also know I need to do better about posting and keeping everyone updated. I’m still learning how to balance being a new Mom while caring for the rescue, and that part is on me. ❤️

But right now, the animals need their village. 🥺🐹

If you’re able to donate ANY amount, it would mean more than you know. Every $5, $10, $20—or whatever you can spare—adds up and helps us continue providing the basics these babies depend on every single day.

‼️ CURRENT NEEDS‼️:
❤️ Vegetables
❤️ Rescue utilities
❤️ Hay
❤️ Hidey houses
❤️ Noodle mats
❤️ Water bottles
❤️Pellets

Our hideys are getting pretty rough and old, and we desperately need to replace them. These items can be purchased directly through our Amazon Wishlist.

If you’d rather make a monetary donation, we can also purchase noodle mats from Target or Ross, where we can sometimes find them at a decent price.

We truly need some angels right now. ❤️

If you’ve ever loved one of our rescue babies, followed their story, shared one of our posts, donated before, adopted from us, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines—this is one of those times when we really need you.

Even if you can’t donate, PLEASE SHARE. A share could put this post in front of someone who can help. 🙏❤️

💚💚VEGGIES NEEDED ASAP💚💚

I am so so sorry for being absent, life has been quite chaotic with a 4 months old!!! Like clock work, something is always needed or happening at the rescue and I’ve been having a hard time finding time to post it ! We are in need of veggies ASAP, hopefully by tomorrow! We’ve sadly had a lose last week (I will post about it), had three adoptions and two girls going into foster today! We gave our last batch of veggies this morning and need to get them as soon as we can! We’re currently home to 60 guinea pigs!! We ALSO need to restock our pain medicine which is $200, we haven’t raised enough to restock it yet, it does last us a very long time! Please check out our Amazon Wishlist for frequently needed items and thank you to everyone in advance, your donations and help is what helps us continue to help all these sweet babies! I assure you even when life is to busy to post, the piggies are being very well taken care of and loved!

BARBIE IS A MAMA! 🥹🩷

Sweet Barbie had a HUGE 137-gram baby girl last night! Thankfully, she only had one baby, and I am SO grateful she was able to deliver her safely and without complications. 🙏🩷

I could hear Barbie being extra chatty as I walked down the hall last night, so I went to check on her. I had a feeling it was going to be soon because of how wide her pelvic spacing was yesterday morning — and sure enough, she was already in labor!

When I checked on her, I helped remove the sac from the baby to give Barbie a little assistance because this sweet mama was exhausted. Thankfully, both mama and baby are doing wonderfully! 🥰

They are healthy, happy, talkative, and absolutely loving their snuggles. 🩷🐹

And the best part? Sweet Barbie will NEVER have to worry about being pregnant again or being separated from her baby. Since she had a little girl, they can stay together. 🥹🩷

I honestly can’t imagine the heartache Barbie must have experienced when she lost her previous baby while in the care of her former “owners.” Seeing how completely in love she is with this little one makes me think she must have been absolutely devastated. 💔

But now, she gets to be a mama without fear. She gets to raise her baby, keep her by her side, and finally know what it feels like to be safe and loved. ❤️

We’ll continue sharing updates and photos as they settle in, but for now, I don’t want to disturb this precious mama and baby too much.

Here are a few photos of our sweet Barbie and her beautiful baby girl in the meantime. 🩷🩷

Welcome to the world, little one! You are already SO loved. 🥹🐹💕
