When Dodge arrived in late April, one look at his injured paw made it clear he desperately needed help. He had been found outside a chicken coop, caught in a possum trap with a devastating injury to his left front paw. The tissue was severely damaged, and his frightened behavior made us wonder if he might be feral.
It didn’t take long for Dodge to show us the sweet boy he really was. He was rubbing against his kennel and happily accepting scratches. The cat we had worried might be feral was asking for affection!
But Dodge still needed surgery. His injured paw could not be saved, and his left front leg had to be amputated.
After surgery, a dedicated staff member took Dodge home to foster, giving him a quiet place to recover and discover how good life indoors could be.
Soon, we got a happy update: “Dodge is happy at my place!!” 👏
As his foster dad gave him the time and care he needed, Dodge’s body healed and his confidence grew.
And then came the happy ending we had all hoped for: Less than a month after arriving, undergoing a leg amputation, and learning to trust, Dodge was adopted.
