Here are five of the 13 young American Kestrels in our care. Most have moved out to our flight cages to work on their aerial skills. All birds grow up fast, but these little falcons seem especially fast learners.

Babies everywhere!!! We have had to dedicate two of our outdoor flight enclosures to the 25 young Great Horned Owls in our care. They are progressing nicely, but will stay with us a few more months, until they are the age that they would normally leave their parents in the wild.

We got our first baby kestrels of the year last night! Their nest was destroyed and some of their siblings were lost. They require frequent feedings as their crops are so small and their metabolism is so high. Luckily they are very enthusiastic eaters!
Thank you for supporting our work as we speed towards busy season! We already have more than 20 young great horned owls in our care! https://www.birds-of-prey.org/donate

Joyous news!!! This Green Heron arrived at Birds of Prey last fall after being attacked by a hawk. Once it healed from its injuries, we asked Greenwood to take it in as they have facilities customized for water birds and we knew it would be a better place for the little guy to wait out the rest of the winter. This case is a wonderful example of collaboration among several organizations that is often necessary to provide the best outcome for a patient.

We got our first nestling Great Horned Owl last week, quickly followed by 3 more! They are a social species and seem to take comfort from all of their foster nest mates.

Last week, we released two adult bald eagles who came into our care during 2025. Given that many local eagles are currently nesting, we worked with our partners at CPW to find a release location not directly in a nesting pair's territory. Many thanks to CPW for their help, and thank you for your continued support in getting these magnificient birds back into the wild!

Birds of Prey was unharmed by the fire near Dillon Rd and 104th. We are beyond grateful for the fast and effective response of so many firefighters and emergency personnel who got the situation under control quickly.
