We LOVE a good “Leave it”.

Boomer knows “Leave it” very well:) We love seeing it in action. Playing with other dogs is super exciting to him so when he gets tooo excited (this was Jettie Maes first visit) he air clacks his teeth. Instead of continuing to get revved up he checks out on cue the first time and no cookies:).

🎓🐾 That’s a wrap on our summer socialization class at Lexie’s Bed and Biscuits! 🐾🎓

We are SO proud of every dog and handler who joined us this season. From practicing calm greetings and neutrality around distractions to building confidence in new environments, these pups made incredible progress. 💛

While this was our final structured class for the summer, socialization doesn’t stop when class ends. That’s where our 🐾 Paw Crawl Services 🐾 come in!

What is Paw Crawl?Paw Crawl is our real-world socialization adventure program designed to help dogs practice life skills outside of the classroom. Instead of learning in one controlled environment, dogs get guided outings to dog-friendly locations where they can safely experience:✨ new sights and sounds✨ public manners✨ confidence-building experiences✨ calm exposure around people, dogs, carts, noises, and more✨ settling and neutrality in everyday environments

Think of it as “training for the next experience.” 🐕☀️

Socialization is not just about meeting dogs. It’s about helping dogs learn how to exist comfortably and confidently in the world around them. The more positive, structured exposure they receive, the more resilient and adaptable they become.

Summer may be here, but the learning adventures are just getting started. 🌿🐾

Did you know? When dogs are placed in a backyard with limited engagement, it often becomes a giant self-service behavior rehearsal zone.

Many wonder whether having a backyard is enough for dog exercise. The answer? That depends entirely on how we define the word “exercise.”

If by exercise we mean healthy outlets for physical energy, mental stimulation, and social engagement, then simply turning a dog loose in the yard often falls short.

However, dogs kept in backyards absolutely do get plenty of practice out there, just not always in the behaviors owners were hoping for!

Indeed, when kept out in the yard for long, dogs get to “exercise” a vast array of undesirable behaviors.

So yes, you can “exercise” a dog’s body to some extent in a backyard, but you can also accidentally exercise the brain in all the wrong ways.

The Carnival at was super fun. Kirby (who is adoptable through ) had the very best time meeting all the dogs and getting all the belly rubs.

SUPER PROUD of Copper today:)

Copper is learning how to navigate busy settings outside the home. He made so many friends at Lowes today. He also went through all his cues to help build his confidence in situations where he feels flighty.

Iris the Star Student:)

Before her half birthday, she managed to complete not one but TWO titles through the AKC. She has also met her goal of meeting 50 dogs and the 50th dog happened to be working through some dog aggression struggles.

We can not be more proud of how much work put in with this girl since day one:)
