🚨 IMPORTANT RABIES ALERT 🚨

A confirmed case of rabies has recently been reported in an unvaccinated pet dog in Mire.

The dog began showing progressive neurological symptoms and was ultimately euthanized. Following testing, the dog tested positive for rabies. Additional testing is currently pending for other dogs in the household.

💉 Please make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations—even if they rarely go outside. Rabies can be transmitted through contact with wildlife, and even indoor pets may be at risk.

Rabies is a preventable but deadly disease. Vaccinating your pets is one of the most important steps you can take to protect them, your family, and our community.

If your pet is due for a rabies vaccine or you are unsure of their vaccination status, please contact your veterinarian.
