💔 NIKKI & RIKKI NEED US — AND THEY NEED FOSTERS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 21ST! 💔

We received the news we were hoping we wouldn’t hear… both Nikki & Rikki are heartworm positive. 😢

Their treatment is scheduled for September 21st, and we really need to have them settled into quiet, patient foster homes before then.

The good news? They do NOT have to stay together. If you can foster just one, you can still make a huge difference. ❤️

These girls are a little skittish, but they are not mean at all. They simply need someone who will be patient, gentle, and give them time to feel safe.

Once treatment begins, keeping them calm is absolutely critical to their recovery.

🐾 No running
🐾 No jumping
🐾 Crate rest
🐾 Potty breaks on leash or in a very small controlled area
🐾 Lots of patience, love, and quiet time

This is not the kind of foster where they can run around and play — their lives truly depend on staying calm while their bodies recover from treatment.

We know it’s a big ask, but we also know there are amazing people out there who can give these girls exactly what they need. 💕

Puppy update!

Welcome this handsome little fella to the Pitiful Pups crew! He is 10 years old and desperately needs a dental and the growth on his nose checked out. He is so incredibly sweet and outgoing. He is not up for adoption yet, but stay tuned, as soon as he is vetted, he will be available.

He is going to his foster home tomorrow and she will be naming him. So we will let you know what she comes up with! What do you think his name should be?

🐾 Please meet Huxley. 💙

This little Pekingese puppy came into our world because several people reached out to us this morning asking if we could help a tiny puppy who was having seizures, couldn’t walk, and was extremely unsteady even just trying to hold his head up.

Of course, we said YES. ❤️

But Huxley’s story actually started the night before. Thanks to Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, this little guy was rushed to Animal Emergency Center, where they worked hard to stabilize him. From there, he was taken to Catoosa Animal Shelter this morning, where they continued caring for him and helping give him the chance he so deserves!

They all worked hard to save this baby… and they did. 🥹💙

Now Huxley is with us.

With his medications, as long as they are given exactly on time, his seizures seem to be under control. We are watching him very closely and giving him the round-the-clock care he needs. We are cautiously hopeful that we will continue to see improvement.

But with these tiny, fragile babies, you just never know what is waiting around the next corner. 💔

We spoke with the veterinarians at Catoosa, and they agree that hydrocephalus is a strong possibility. They also mentioned cerebral hypoplasia and a possible liver shunt as things we need to investigate.

Unfortunately, Huxley does not have an open fontanel, so an ultrasound cannot be used to confirm hydrocephalus. That means he will most likely need an MRI, along with additional testing to help us understand exactly what is happening inside that tiny body.

And as you can imagine… MRIs are not cheap. 😔

So today, we are asking for two things:

🙏 Please pray for Huxley. Pray that his seizures remain controlled, that his little body continues to respond to treatment, and that we can find answers.

💙 And if you are able, please consider donating toward Huxley’s medical care. We know we are going to have a lot of testing and veterinary expenses ahead of us, but we also know this little boy is worth fighting for.

He has already had so many people step up for him.

Now it’s our turn to fight for him. 🐾💙
