This is such a sad thing to read! Dogs are a lifetime commitment! Whether you rescue a dog or get one from a reputable breeder, they are yours to love and care for until the very end! Please do your research on owning a dog before getting yourself a dog. My heart aches for these poor dogs 😢💔
We are angry. 😡
We are sad. 😢
We are disgusted. 🙄
We are exhausted😞
And honestly… we don’t even know what else to say anymore.
Our phone has been ringing nonstop with people wanting to bring their pets to us. Not next month. Not after they’ve tried every option. They want us to take them right now.😖
In just one week, six families who adopted from us have contacted us wanting to return their pets.
And some of the reasons have left us sitting back, shaking our heads in disbelief.
A dog that had been loved by a family for five years was being returned because it sheds.
A family called because they were moving tomorrow and needed us to take their dog. Tomorrow. Somehow, the move was a surprise, but the dog was expected to figure it out. And yes, we know you really didn’t move. 
And so many are because someone adopted an adorable little puppy… but now that puppy is eight months old. It jumps. It chews things. It has energy. You know what? That’s what puppies do.
They need training. They need patience. They need someone willing to put in the time. All the things we went over with you during the adoption and you agreed to. 
You made a commitment when you adopted that puppy. You promised to give it a forever home.
Your dog doesn’t know that you’re tired of it. Your dog doesn’t understand that your schedule changed. Your dog doesn’t understand that you didn’t plan ahead.
Your dog only knows you are their person.
We know life happens. We know there are true emergencies and heartbreaking situations where people genuinely need help. We will always be here for those people and animals.
But right now, shelters and rescues everywhere are drowning.
Euthanasia rates are sky high across the country because there are simply not enough places for all the animals people are giving up on. 
Every kennel that is filled because someone gave up on a fixable problem means another dog or cat sitting in a shelter somewhere may not get saved.
We are exhausted. We are stressed. We are heartbroken.
Rescuers are closing their doors because the emotional weight has become too much. People who spend every day trying to save lives are being overwhelmed and treated like we are the problem.
Is this post meant to make people uncomfortable?
Yes.
Because maybe being uncomfortable will make someone stop and think before giving up.
Maybe someone will decide to call a groomer or trainer instead of surrendering.
Maybe someone will spend a little more time teaching instead of walking away.
These animals depend on you. You are their whole world.
