Agave Dogs Rescue

Agave Dogs Rescue Agave Dogs rescues adoptable shelter dogs and finds them loving homes in Oregon and Washington 🐾🐕💚 So we jumped into action and haven't stopped since.

Agave Dogs Rescue was founded in 2017 after seeing constant pleas on social media from shelters and rescuers in Texas and other Southern states for help with their dog overpopulation crisis. Dogs dumped on the side of the road, dogs minutes from euthanasia unless a rescue tagged them, dogs enduring years of hardship and neglect with owners who didn't or couldn't care for them. We knew the Pacific

Northwest had an extensive demographic of amazing dog lovers willing to offer homes and their hearts to dogs in need. Our Mission:
Agave Dogs rescues adoptable, homeless dogs from areas overwhelmed with pet overpopulation and finds them loving, permanent homes in Oregon and Washington. We assist dogs at risk for euthanasia in high kill shelters and strays found on the street by out of state rescuers. If you'd like to meet one of our dogs the first step is to fill out an adoption application so we can get to know you better. Ways to donate to support our rescue dogs...

The rescue ✨GLOW UP✨ is so real. This is what we work so hard for. To see a terrified dog like Temu who had been dealt a horrible hand in life, get a fresh start. To see the hard, stressed look melt away into sunny, fun, playful days. Rescue should be a safe haven that has this effect on dogs who have endured trauma.

Temu has been waiting in rescue since November 2025. He is a gentle, slightly shy soul. Loves doggie play mates. Good with cats. Nice manners. Loves to train with treats! Rides well in the car. No leash reactivity. Delights in a Jolly Ball and his kiddie pool. Medium energy level often found lounging on a soft bed, relaxing.

75 pounds, 1.5 years old

Possibly a Doberman/German Shepherd cream puff of a dog without a mean bone in his body.

Edwin is an 18 pound, 8-9 year old senior boy who we pulled out of a hoarding situation last week where 10 dogs were locked in a home. The elderly owner was removed due to the unsanitary living conditions but the dogs remained behind living in filth. Caretakers would come over a few times a week to shovel waste, refresh water and feed.

Edwin’s microchip came back to an owner but when they finally responded to us, they informed us they had moved out of the country. Edwin is a kind, gentleman dog. He didn’t deserve losing his home then landing in a new, unfortunate situation trapped inside a home with too many dogs.

It warms our hearts to give Edwin a soft, safe place to land. We can tell that a bath, ample, clean water, good food, and fresh air has revived Edwin. He is so very deserving.

Great with other dogs and cats. Gentle guy eager to land in a peaceful home. An underbite that will make you chuckle 🤭

ADOPTED! Dixie was just a little 9 pound girl, fending for herself as a stray in a Fresno neighborhood. Little dogs like her don’t survive long with speeding cars, predatory large dogs and other dangers. Add to it that Dixie had a large hernia hanging from her stomach that was allowing her internal organs to drop down and protrude. She was in terrible shape.

A kind rescuer took Dixie in and we immediately got her spayed and the hernia repaired. She was able to come up to Oregon a couple weeks ago and landed with the nicest couple. This week Dixie had a second surgery to remove 6 fractured teeth so her mouth would not be painful. Our veterinary bills are substantial for some of these saves but when the dog is as kind and loving as Dixie, it makes it all worthwhile. Best wishes in your new home Dixie! 💗

ADOPTED! Marco was a stray dog staying at gas stations, commercial buildings and running along busy roads for a year in Fresno before he was skillfully trapped by rescuers. He was a sweet boy that wanted human contact but his brain had shifted into survival mode so he was hard to get ahold of. Thankfully, he survived the streets of Fresno with many Good Samaritans looking out for him, providing food and water and posting him on social media trying to get him help.

Marco came to Oregon a few weeks ago and met his new dad. He finally landed in a loving home where he can relax and enjoy life with a feeling of security. He loves to chill on the couch! Congratulations Marco! 🐾

Looking for a bully breed that enjoys dog friends of all sizes and is respectful of cats? Sneakers is that good boy you’re hoping for! ❤️

Sneakers has been soaking up all the amazing comforts of a foster home after an 8 month stint at a stressful California shelter.

• 49 pounds and approximately 5-6 years old
• Crate trained
• Potty trained
• Not leash reactive and enjoys walks
• Has started to play fetch
• Fostered with large and small dogs and cats
• Adores women and tends to default to them. He is reserved with men but not at all aggressive.
• Would enjoy another playful dog friend in his future home. He can also take the hint well when a dog doesn’t want to play with him.

Thea was found living in a home in California with nine other dogs in filthy conditions with floors covered in f***s and urine. Sadly, the dog’s elderly owner suffers from dementia and was removed from the home due to the conditions. This left 10 dogs behind and locked inside.

Our friends at Bowe’s Animal Rescue jumped in to help and got all ten dogs out this weekend.

Poor Thea had a broken leg and we were able to spay her and fund her amputation this week so that she is no longer in pain. Thea arrives to us Memorial Day.

Thea is the sweetest dog. Excellent with other dogs large and small. Good with kids and had previously been in an original home with an infant and did well. Cats unknown but we can test her.

• Thea is 5 years old and 50 pounds •

Our intake of two today is complete ☀️
Our next is at midnight 😮‍💨

Sneakers was at the Avenal Animal Shelter since October 2025 😱

We chose him because:
• Nice loose, wiggly body language
• Playful and happy to see other dogs
• Social and friendly with people
• Ignored the cat on his cat test

Our goal in rescue is to focus on safe, people and animal-social dogs. Sneakers deserved a ticket out of the shelter after holding up for 8 months solid in a loud and stressful environment.

Thank you to Avenal City Shelter Friends for covering his vetting and transport costs!

Sneakers is 49 pounds and likely around 6-7 years old. Nice boy, just understandably nervous after a long road trip from California to Oregon.

Sneakers will be fostered with other dogs large and small plus cats so we can get a full assessment of his compatibility.

Why is Temu smiling so much? We told him this weekend is a long holiday weekend and chances are good he might get his first inquiry! No one has inquired about this handsome boy yet 🤎

Temu is a sensitive, gentle boy who is looking for his true person to bond with. He’s a shy guy with amazing manners and a soft temperament. He’s one of those rescue dogs that you invest some confidence building work in (treats, walks, gradual exposure to new things) and he will absolutely show you the gem of a dog he is.

Approximately 18 months old and 75 pounds

Things we love about Temu:

• Excellent with other dogs large and small.
• Walks nice on leash and doesn’t pull much
• No leash reactivity
• Likes his crate and goes in it to sleep
• Good for car rides, loads himself up
• Doesn’t jump on people
• Takes treats gently
• Completed a 1 month board and train to build his confidence and obedience
• Will lay his head in your lap
• Polite towards visitors in your home
• Nice medium to lower energy

Temu would love a calm home with a soft bed and a daily walk 😌🏃‍♂️
