MJ is a happy, playful young Lab mix with plenty of puppy spirit! This 1-year-old girl is all about having fun—she’ll race around the yard with her dog friends, then come right over to settle beside you for some well-earned pets. MJ is very treat motivated, already knows “sit” and “paw,” and is eager to keep learning (especially if snacks are involved!). With her playful personality and affectionate side, MJ is ready to bring lots of fun and love to her new family.

Heidi is a 4-year-old spayed female Siberian Husky mix with a beautiful black and gray coat, adorable folded ears, and striking blue eyes. Weighing 55 lbs, Heidi came in as a stray and is looking for a patient home where she can feel safe and loved. 💙

Heidi is friendly, gentle, and easy to handle. She enjoys the company of calm dogs and has a quiet, easygoing personality. Staff believe she may have some vision loss, as she occasionally bumps into people, so she'll do best with an adopter who can help her build confidence and navigate the world at her own pace. With a little patience and a lot of love, Heidi will make a wonderful companion.

Luna is an adorable Kelpie/ Catahoula mix puppy with bright eyes, floppy ears, and all the curiosity you'd expect from a growing youngster.

-6-month-old spayed female
-Black Kelpie/Catahoula mix with a beautiful brown-and-black coat
-28 lbs and still growing into her paws
-Sweet, friendly puppy who enjoys spending time with people
-Takes a few minutes to warm up and check in with new handlers
-Knows "sit" and is eager to learn more
-Typical puppy energy with a playful, enthusiastic personality
-Gets excited around other dogs and is still learning appropriate social skills

🐾 Clear the Shelters is here! From August 1 to 31, adoption fees are waived at ALL LA County Animal Care Centers.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a new best friend to your pack, this is the month to do it. We have lots of animals waiting for their person to walk through the door 🐶🐱

We will have a special event to celebrate at Baldwin Park on the 29th (stay tuned!), but the fee waiver runs all month at every LA County shelter.

A new group of volunteers just finished training! We’re so grateful for our volunteers who give our animals extra love and care. If you see someone in a purple vest at the care center, that’s one of our volunteers in training, feel free to say hi!

Interested in becoming a volunteer? Here’s how it works:

🐾 Step 1: Fill out the application form online at www. animalcare.lacounty.gov/volunteer-opportunities
🐾 Step 2: Attend a tour
🐾 Step 3: Attend an orientation
🐾 Step 4: Training, shadowing and final assessment

A few things to keep in mind:
📌 Tours, orientations & trainings run quarterly, 4 times a year
📌 Applications are kept on file for 2 tour invites before they’re removed and you’ll have to apply again

Once you’re in our system, we’ll reach out with the next set of tour dates so you can get started! 🐶
