Laika’s family faced a frightening, unexpected emergency when what was thought to be a foreign body became a life-threatening hole in her intestine.

After being referred to MVA, Laika underwent specialized surgery with Dr. John Litterine-Kaufman, known as Dr. LK, who was able to repair the area with a less invasive approach. Her recovery required several days of close monitoring and critical care after sepsis, with support from Dr. Kati Tumielewicz, Dr. Rachel Morgan, and the entire MVA team.

Throughout it all, Laika’s family found comfort in the compassion shown not only to Laika, but to them too. From thoughtful daily updates about snack times and snuggles to patient answers during difficult conversations, every moment of care mattered.

Today, her family is deeply grateful that Laika had access to the specialty and critical care she needed when she needed it most. We are so proud of this brave girl and honored to have been part of her care. 🧡

Our team is incredibly proud to support the Daily Bread Community Food Pantry, and we're excited to share that August was another amazing month for the food drive. 🧡

Together, we collected 5774.65 pounds of food and essential supplies to help local families in our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

While every donation makes a difference, the pantry is currently running especially low on several items, including:

🐱 Dry cat food, cat treats, cat litter
🫘 Baked beans
🍳 Skillet dinners
🥣 Cream soup
🧃 Juice
🥞 Pancake mix
🍯 Syrup
🍓 Jelly
🍅 Tomato products
🍅 Tomato sauce

Anna is the Standish family’s fifth pug, and from the moment she joined their family at 10 months old, she was deeply loved. 🧡

When Anna began experiencing labored breathing that didn’t improve even after traveling to cooler weather, her family knew something more could be going on. After consulting with their primary veterinarian, Anne brought Anna to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates for specialty care.

Anna was treated by Dr. Litterine-Kaufman, whom her family affectionately calls Dr. L-K, and our surgery team.

“Dr. L-K was extraordinary, a great surgeon and very kind,” Anne shared. “All of the team were wonderful. I felt assured that Anna was getting excellent care.”

We’re so grateful Anna’s family trusted our team with her care. Stories like hers are why we do what we do. 🐾
