🌞 It’s going to be a hot one today!

Before you head out with your pup, remember the 5-Second Rule: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you can’t comfortably keep it there for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Hot asphalt can burn paw pads in seconds. Walk early in the morning or later in the evening, stick to grass whenever possible, and help keep those paws safe! 🐾❤️

With the heat index being over 100 in Tampa Bay lately, we just wanted to remind everyone of signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion 🥵🔥. See the graphic below👇 severe symptoms require a vet visit!

Limit your dog’s outdoor time and make sure they always have access to fresh water and a shady spot. Get your walks in first thing in the morning or just before sunset. Frozen treats are another great way to keep your pup cool 😎

Dog racism

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, The Punisher star defended pit bulls and specifically used the phrase "dog racism" to describe the public stigma and fear surrounding the breed.

Bernthal, who owns rescue pit bulls himself, argued that a dog's behavior depends entirely on how it is raised and trained by its owner rather than its genetics.

He stated: "The myth of the pit bull is a lot of bulls–t... It's just racism. It's just dog racism. I think to be afraid of a breed of dog is completely ridiculous."

He compared judging an entire breed of dog to "being afraid of somebody for their race or their sexual orientation."

He claimed that pit bulls are no more likely to bite than Chihuahuas or any other breed. He added that the issue stems from "knuckleheads" or "wannabe gangsters" who acquire pit bulls just to project a tough image without properly training or socializing them.
