🌟 Boarder of the Week 🌟
Heather Kamataris and her horse Quest
Age: 18
Color: Gray
How long have you had your horse?
4 years
What is your favorite thing to do with your horse?
Hit the trails! Quest was a trail horse when I bought him, and while teaching him the ins and outs of the arena is rewarding, he really enjoys himself trampling through the woods. The more off-road, the better!
What do you love about boarding at Stagecoach?
The community! I’ve never had a day where someone hasn’t smiled and asked about my day, and it’s been a joy to have so many lovely riding partners. I can’t wait for more adventures this summer!
Fun Facts & Favorite Memory:
The very first time I rode Quest, back when he was owned by a trail outfitter I was working as a guide for, our group was charged by a moose. We were heading back to the barn after a 4 hour ride through a mountain valley in Colorado with 5 guests (most of whom had never touched a horse). The final creek we crossed on the return was loud, around a corner, and densely wooded. The horse’s weren’t able to see, smell or hear the mama moose and calf just on the other side until half of us had already crossed. Mama was not so happy about that, lowered her head, and charged. Two of my five guests fell in the creek, horses were running everywhere, and a third guest was screaming and unable to dismount by herself. Quest went exactly where I told him and stayed with me when I dismounted until I let go and sent him home. My guest ended up falling on top of me while I helped her dismount, adding to the complete chaos. In the process, mama moose had decided her job was done and walked off, but it was a long walk back to the stables. Needless to say, neither Quest nor I were particularly fond of the 3 or 4 other moose we saw from a distance that year.
