Michael Blake- "Small, friendly and hugely successful"

Starting with only a handful of point to point horses, with great training success Michael Blake (and wife Sharon) then naturally progressed on to take out a full training licence and train under rules, and has had many a success ever since. Training both flat and jump horses, Michael can boast owning his own yard with facilities including 25 open airy boxes in an American Barn, full sized out door school and smaller indoor school, two stall horse box, covered horse walker, heated wash down area, acres of private hacking and lush grazing, a five furlong all weather gallop and schooling field with easyfix hurdles and fences. Stabled in a quiet relaxed atmophere the horses are part of the 'family' and are loved and cared for to the highest standard by experienced and dedicated staff and being a smaller yard the horses have all the one to one care and attention they need. The team at Staverton farm always welcome existing and potential new owners and those considering having a horse in training. To find out more information or to arrange a visit to see for yourselves please do not hesitate to contact Michael or Sharon, who will be more the happy to accommodate your needs.

Arctic Voyage heads to Chepstow 🏇🏻

Arctic Voyage is declared for Chepstow Racecourse this Saturday, where he’ll take to the track as we head to day two of the DragonBet Welsh Racing Festival.

It’s an exciting time for MBR and Staverton Owners Group, and we’re looking forward to being at Chepstow with AV for a big day of Welsh racing!

We’re keeping a close eye on the weather over the next few days, but fingers crossed everything falls into place for Saturday.

Best of luck to everyone involved. We can’t wait! 🤞🏼

POST-RACE UPDATE 🏇🏻

Military Air made his first start for the yard at Newbury Racecourse yesterday for owner Jimmy Fyffe 💗🖤

Miller showed plenty of enthusiasm, racing prominently and travelling well throughout much of the race. At long odds in a decent handicap, he wasn’t beaten far despite weakening inside the final two furlongs.

It was a really useful first run for us and we learnt plenty about him. Rossa Ryan gave us some valuable feedback afterwards, giving us a good idea of where to go next.

Most importantly, Miller is home safe and sound. Plenty learnt and plenty to build on! 🏇🏻

A big thank you to Jimmy for his continued support and to everyone involved behind the scenes.

We’re looking forward to the next step with him!

Military Air heads to Newbury 🏇🏻

Military Air is declared for Newbury Racecourse on Friday, where he’ll make his debut for the yard, as well as being our first runner for owner Jimmy Fyffe 💗🖤

We’ve taken our time with Military Air since he arrived at Staverton, allowing him to settle into his new routine and get to know him at home. He’ll wear his hood on Friday and we’re looking forward to seeing him out on the racecourse.

Best of luck to Jimmy and all of Team MBR. Fingers crossed for a good run!🤞🏼

POST-RACE UPDATE 🏇🏻

A good afternoon at Newton Abbot Racecourse yesterday with Happy Chandler and Arctic Voyage both in action!

Happy Chandler, for owner Roger Gould, put in another promising effort over hurdles. Wearing a hood for the first time, he settled nicely and his jumping was good and clean throughout. Racing away from the main pace, he was never quite in a position to trouble the leaders, but there were plenty of positives to take from the run. It was another good experience for him and a run we feel he’ll come on from.

Arctic Voyage returned to the racecourse following a two-month break and produced another solid effort for the Staverton Owners Group. The race wasn’t really run to suit Arctic, with a very slow pace making things difficult for him. A couple of mistakes didn’t help his chances either, but he still produced a decent run from a 4lb higher mark than his previous course and distance win. Overall, another respectable performance from AV on his return to action.

Plenty of positives to take away from both performances and, most importantly, both boys are home safe and sound! 💙

A big thank you to everyone involved behind the scenes and to Roger Gould and the Staverton Owners Group for their continued support.

Onto the next one! 🏇🏻
