🐾🚨 EU Pet Travel Update – What UK Pet Owners Need to Know (2026)

Big changes have just come into effect for travelling with pets from the UK to the EU 🇪🇺

From 22 April 2026, the rules have tightened—and it’s important to be prepared before you travel.

❗ Key update:
EU pet passports are no longer valid for Great Britain residents—even if they were issued in the EU or Northern Ireland.

📄 What you now need instead:
➡️ An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for every trip
➡️ Issued by an official vet shortly before travel
➡️ Valid for one journey only (not reusable)

🐶🐱 What stays the same:
✔️ Pets must be microchipped
✔️ Rabies vaccination is still required
✔️ Entry rules into the UK haven’t changed

💡 What this means for you:
Traveling with pets now requires more planning, time, and cost—but following the rules ensures a smooth journey and avoids issues at the border.

✨ Tip: Always check the specific requirements for your destination country before you travel.

🌸🐾 Allergy season? Not for this brave girl! 🐾🌸

This sweet lady popped into the practice for her anti-allergy injection today — and as you can see, she handled it like an absolute superstar ⭐💉

Allergies can make our furry friends itchy, uncomfortable, and miserable, especially at certain times of year. Thankfully, regular anti-allergy injections can help keep symptoms under control and tails wagging happily again! 🐶✨

She was calm, patient, and very deserving of all the cuddles (and maybe a treat or two! 🍪💕).

If your pet is showing signs of itching, licking, red skin, or ear problems, don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re here to help keep them comfortable and itch-free.

🪥🦷February is Veterinary Dental Health Month, a reminder that pets need dental care just like we do. Plaque and tartar buildup can lead to pain, infections, and even problems with the heart, liver, and kidneys. Regular brushing, the correct dental chews, and routine vet checkups help keep pets comfortable, healthy, and smiling.

We are offering free dental checks with one of our nurses and will also be offering 20% off dentals during February and March! 🦷🪥

If you would like to take up this offer, please call us on 01392 491838!
