🌈 Tribute Tuesday 🌈

I'd love to bring back Tribute Tuesday. This is a space to remember and celebrate the pets who have shaped our lives and left pawprints on our hearts.

It felt only right to begin with my own tribute. Today we remember Koru ❤️

Koru came into my life as a six-month-old rescue from the RSPCA in Tauranga, New Zealand. I still remember convincing them that although I would eventually be returning to the UK, I was absolutely not leaving without her!

She thrived in New Zealand and then made the long journey home with me to Heathrow, beginning the next chapter of what would become nearly 15 wonderful years together.

She was by my side through an internship, life in general practice and studying for my post-graduate medicine certificate. She appeared in our wedding photographs, supported me through pregnancy and motherhood, and became a gentle, loyal protector of our children as they grew. A true family dog.

Like many special dogs, she quietly held herself to be part of every stage of the past decade and more. She gave far more than she ever asked for in return. I miss her deeply and am incredibly grateful that she was mine.

This tribute is for our Koru dog. 🐾

If you'd like to remember a pet of your own, I'd be honoured to share their story as part of Tribute Tuesday. Whether I've cared for your pet personally or not, you're welcome to send a photo, their name, dates (if you'd like to include them) and a few words about what made them special.

Because every pet deserves to be remembered. ❤️

How is it already the end of May? It feels like only yesterday that we were at the start of the year, saying goodbye to our beautiful girl, Koru. Losing her reminded me, once again, how precious our time with our pets really is 💕

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping many families give their beloved dogs and cats a calm and peaceful goodbye at home. As I look back on this month, I’m thinking of every family and every special pet I’ve met. It’s been a busy few weeks, and for that I am incredibly grateful.

Rainbow Bridge Vets is now firmly into its third year, and I’m continually humbled by the trust people place in me during such an important moment. Many families find me through recommendations from local veterinary practices, word of mouth, and the kind reviews that previous clients have taken the time to leave. Every referral, recommendation and review means so much, thank you 🙏

As we move into June, I’m taking a moment to reflect and remember, not only our Koru, but all the wonderful pets I’ve been honoured to help over the years. I’m also thinking of everyone who has loved and lost a cherished companion this year and in years gone by.

After some time away for a half term break to rest and reset with my little family, my next availability is Friday 5th June, and appointments can be viewed and booked online at www.rainbowbridgevets.co.uk.

Supporting families across Exeter, East Devon and Torbay.

I’ve been a little quiet on here recently and that’s simply because I’ve been incredibly busy since returning after Easter. For that, as always, I’m truly grateful that more families are finding me.

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been thinking of each and every family and pet I’ve had the privilege to support. Today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on just how much our pets mean to us.

They are never “just pets” and anyone who says that hasn’t been lucky enough to share the bond that comes from having a true companion.

Pets are family members, they’re part of our everyday lives yet can form our biggest memories, being by our sides as quiet support for many of lifes ups and downs. When the time comes to say goodbye, it’s never easy and often a piece of us goes with them.

I do my very best to hold space for those feelings, and to gently support families by remembering the love, adventures, and the companionship they’ve shared over the years. A peaceful goodbye at home is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give but not just for your pet, but for yourselves.

I’m here to help make a calm and peaceful goodbye possible, taking care of everything so you can focus on what truly matters, your beloved pet.

I’m here to help if I can with appointments available this week to book online at www.rainbowbridgevets.co.uk Exeter | East Devon | Torbay 🐾🌈🏡

Signing off for the Easter break as the schools and pre-school are now closed for two weeks. I’m swapping my vet head for my mummy head and joining in with Easter treasure hunts, baking, crafts, games and not forgetting celebrating my little boy turning five! 🥰

I’ll be back to support families with calm and peaceful home visits for saying goodbye from Tuesday 21st April. Online booking is always available at rainbowbridgevets.co.uk

Thinking of all the pets and families I’ve helped recently, and thank you for your support this year, in whatever way that looks, it all means so much to me.

Sharing a kind review today and remembering the gorgeous Rocco 🐾

“From the moment we reached out initially Sara has been an Angel. She was professional, efficient and highly empathetic… as much as I wish this was a service that was never needed I am comforted knowing that Sara is available. THANK YOU is not enough.” - Kate with Rocco

Thank you for trusting me, Kate and family, to help you say goodbye to your lovely boy. It was a privilege to be there for you all, and I’m holding you in my thoughts as we remember your sweet boy today 💙

Another year has passed for me as I turned 43 this week. I can’t help but look back on all that this past year has given me. I’m incredibly grateful to have further grown Rainbow Bridge Vets as it moves into it’s third year, helping many more families say goodbye to their beloved companions peacefully at home, and supporting our amazing local practices to offer home visits too.

I’m also so proud of my little people and our small family for how we’ve navigated the year together. And always thankful for the many years we had with Koru dog. It’s still painful when I think about losing her this January, and I know from past experiences that grief doesn’t follow a timeline. I carry Koru’s memory with me, and it helps me empathise deeply with the families I support. I’ve been in these shoes before, and it’s no different each time you say goodbye, it’s heartbreaking.

Our pets hold such a special place in our lives and to say goodbye is one of the hardest parts of loving them, but I know it can also be gentle, peaceful, and filled with love.

Holding the pets and families I’ve helped this week in my thoughts. I’m right here with you ❤️

Feeling incredibly lucky to be spending another birthday in our beautiful Devon. Sadly biggest little one was at school this year and no Koru dog to join the celebrations, but the rest of us managed a gorgeous seafront walk in Exmouth followed by a delicious lunch at The Point Exmouth Marina.

Finished up with a free birthday brownie from The Cuppa Cabin at Greenvalley, my go-to coffee stop off when I’m on the road. Bonus point (s) for both being super dog friendly (no pun intended!).

Thankful for another year doing what I do, in a place I love, with people I love. Is this middle-age?! It’s not too bad ❤️
