Ned’s journey home began this weekend — and what a moment it was.
His amazing new family drove from Ottawa to welcome him with open arms, and the joy on all sides was unforgettable.

Congratulations to Rosemary, Ian, and sweet Ned. Your story together is just beginning, and we’re so excited to watch it unfold.

ONTARIO BANS INVASIVE TESTING ON DOGS AND CATS! 🐾

Today marks a precedent-setting moment in Canada.🇨🇦

Ontario has passed landmark legislation through Bill 75 to ban invasive scientific research and experiments on pet cats and dogs.

One province. ONE BEAGLE AT A TIME.

For those of us who have looked into the eyes of former research dogs, this is deeply personal.

From fear to first tail wags, from LAB to LOVE, these dogs have shown us their freedom is worth every hard day.

Thank you to everyone who spoke up, made calls, signed petitions, and refused to look away.

Meet Chichi, the sweetest 1‑year‑old girl looking for her forever family.
At 36 lbs, she’s the perfect size — easy to adventure with, easy to cuddle, and easy to love.
She’s currently thriving in her Burlington foster home with two canine sisters who’ve shown her the ropes.

Chichi is:

• Microchipped
• Experienced with other dogs
• Walking beautifully on leash
• Doing great with housetraining
• Crate trained

This gentle girl would love a home with another friendly dog, but she’d also be perfectly happy as the only pup — soaking up all the love and attention.

If humans were discarded the moment we developed a health condition, the world would be outraged. Yet this is exactly what happens to animals every day.

Horses with bowed tendons are rejected instantly. Cats with FIV are dismissed without research. And dogs like Dominic are overlooked simply because they aren’t “perfect.”

Dominic has a grade 4.5 heart murmur, and while many would pass him by, we refuse to. We are committed to giving him a future, but before we can place him in a compassionate care home, he needs further testing to determine whether he’s healthy enough to travel and what care he’ll require.

We don’t often ask for help, but this month we are already treating two heartworm‑positive dogs, and Dominic urgently needs support too. If you’re able, please donate directly to the Bahamas Humane Society so they can arrange his testing.

Sharing this post, liking, and following also make a real difference. Together, we can show Dominic—and animals like him—that they are not disposable.
