Smart Dog Training Train with your brain, not pain! Humane, science-based training and behaviour modification for your Serving Victoria since 2004.

Over 10 classes a week in downtown Victoria as well as Day Training services and agility in North Saanich. We specialize in foundation training for puppies or older rescues and in urban dog enrichment. We have an excellent track record helping puppies and shy dogs be braver, helping impulsive dogs achieve self control, and giving owners the tools they need to train as professionals would, all in a respectful, fun, and challenging environment. Our staff have expertise both in teaching dogs and in coaching people; no question is too silly, no puppy too zoomy, no rescue too shy or too rowdy! Classes in downtown Victoria

With over a dozen classes a week, the majority in downtown Victoria Smart Dog Training specializes in coaching people and their dogs. Our lead trainers hold CPDTs and our staff have degrees in education, science and communications. We combine our strengths to give you and your dog the best possible experience.

Our "Back to Cool" Event was a huge success. A two potty event is always a good event. All of our competitors have loved our First Class Facilities. But we were so curious.... Did you enjoy the Green (did it kind of smell like apples at first?) or the Purple (did it actually smell like berries at first? Purple won the vote 79 to 61

That’s a wrap for Smart Dogs “back to cool” trial. There are so many people to thank, competitor/volunteers ( you are one and the same and make it possible for each other to play). Super volunteers who aren’t even trialing! And of course the judges Katherine Mitton and Denise Reid Clark! Super fun courses that kept us cheering, laughing and smiling for much of the weekend. Hope to see you all again soon! Stand by for many brags, the porta
Potty contest results and our fundraising numbers for Run for the cure!

In our Intermediate (second level) class, we start adding distractions. Clementine (6 months old) is interested in someone holding tasty treats, but can still immediately return to her owner when called. This game gets fun when the dog can leave behind a smelly, high-level distraction to return to an owner who is only holding something low-value like kibble.
