Samson may be tiny but his spirit is large. He has filled my home and my heart with love.
He is a funny, cuddly, chill little guy whose favorite spot is either beside me or on my lap.
When we go for a walk, everyone makes a fuss over this tiny bundle of fur.
My husband has been in hospital for an extended period of time. Samson walks into that hospital like he owns it. My husband smiles the entire time he is there.
Thank you so much for allowing me to welcome Samson into our lives. He fills my heart.

At just 11 pounds, this tiny boy has lived a life far bigger (and harder) than he ever should have. Now safe in Toronto, Gilbert is finally learning what it means to be loved - and he is so ready to give that love right back.

About five years old, and likely a schnauzer–shih tzu mix, Gilbert has the sweetest little underbite and tiny crooked teeth that peek out when he looks up at you and trust us, when he does, it will melt you. His eyes say everything: you are my person.

Before coming into rescue, Gilbert was out there on his own - a little stray trying to navigate the world without anyone to care for him. He was very underweight, and the vets believe he may have been eating things like rocks to survive (which likely caused some erosion on his teeth). Gilbert’s hips are a bit out of alignment, but the vets have said it does not require any treatment and does not impact him- other than giving him the cutest little bunny hops when he walks.

Despite everything Gilbert has been through, he is nothing but soft, sweet love. He’s a gentle, calm boy who doesn’t ask for much. He’s a calm, quiet little soul. Sleeps through the night. Mostly housetrained (with one adorably quirky preference for a flat surface over grass - city boy energy). Good with other dogs, happy to coexist, and likely to ignore cats who ignore him.

In meeting new people, Gilbert may take a few minutes to feel safe… but once he does, he’s all in. He’ll paw at you for snuggles, curl into your lap, and love you with a quiet, unwavering devotion that feels truly special.

Meet Pony — the little guy with a fabulous personality and just enough sparkle to make you feel like you’ve stepped into your very own Pink Pony Club!

At 5 years old and 15 lbs, this terrier mix may be small, but he’s absolutely the mane event. Fostered in Toronto, Pony is a total lover boy who wants to be right by your side. He’s your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your constant companion. Wherever you go, he’s ready to follow your lead… call it his version of dancing under the lights.

Pony gets along beautifully with children, other dogs, and even cats - he fits right into the herd like a natural. On walks, he’s a total dream (a perfectly rein-forced gentleman), trotting politely on leash and knowing exactly when it’s time for a quick pit stop.

Meet Rue
Rue is a 6-month-old bundle of personality weighing in at just 9 lbs. This adorable pup is believed to be a Yorkie/Miniature Schnauzer mix, bringing together the best of both breeds—spunky, smart, and full of charm. She is currently being fostered in Mississauga and will be spayed very soon.
She’s named after Rue from The Hunger Games—and it couldn’t be more fitting. Just like her namesake, Rue is incredibly sweet, a little quiet, and surprisingly skilled at climbing! Don’t be fooled by her tiny size—this clever girl can find her way onto tabletops if something catches her interest.
Rue is wonderful with both dogs and kids, making her a great addition to a lively family. She has a medium-to-high energy level and thrives with daily walks, playtime, and lots of engagement. Whether she’s chasing her favorite toy or heading out on an adventure, Rue is always ready for fun.
Like many young pups, Rue is still learning the ropes. She’s making good progress with potty training and just needs consistency to master it. She sleeps soundly in her crate at night, and while she may protest a bit during the day, she settles quickly.
Rue does have a high prey drive, so a home without cats is a must. Some typical puppy chewing is still part of her routine, so appropriate toys and supervision will help guide her.
Rue needs a home with a fenced yard where she can safely burn off energy. Puppy classes will be important for her continued socialization and to help her grow into a well-mannered companion.

Meet Nena — a 3-year-old, 16 lb Schnauzer mix currently being fostered in downtown Toronto. This scruffy little girl has the cutest face, a goofy personality, and the sweetest, most gentle nature.

Nena can be a bit shy at first and takes a little time to warm up, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate side truly shines. She loves being close to her people and quickly becomes your little shadow, following you from room to room and always ready for a cuddle.

As she settles in, her silly and loving personality comes out more and more. Nena is incredibly loyal and forms strong bonds, making her a deeply special companion.

She’s still learning the basics of life in a home—she’s currently working on house training and is still building her leash skills, along with learning boundaries, manners, and daily routines. Fortunately, she’s a very good listener with a calm, passive temperament, which makes training a rewarding experience. She’s gentle, eager to please, and responds beautifully to patience, consistency, and kindness.

Because Nena is still new to her foster home, her personality and skills may continue to evolve as she becomes more comfortable. Everything shared here reflects what her foster family has observed so far.

Nena would thrive in a calm, patient home with people who can continue building her confidence and guiding her as she learns. With a little time and a lot of love, she’s blossoming into the well-mannered little princess she was always meant to be.

Bubba has already lived a lifetime most dogs should never have to know. At 7 years old, this 25-lb poodle mix was rescued after being abandoned in a house, left behind without the love and care every dog deserves. And yet, somehow, he still chooses people—every single time. Bubba is fostered in Toronto.

He is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. Bubba doesn’t ask for much, just to be near you. He’s a true Velcro dog, happiest when he’s by your side, following you from room to room like your soft, loyal shadow.

On walks, Bubba is an absolute dream. No pulling, no zig-zagging—just a steady, perfect pace right beside you, like he’s always known exactly where he belongs. He doesn’t stop to sniff or get distracted; he just walks with you, calm and content. It’s as if being together is the only thing that matters.

At home, Bubba is quiet and easy to have around. Loud noises can scare him, and you can see glimpses of the life he left behind in those moments, but he looks to his people for comfort and reassurance. He’s still working on house training and has some accidents, and he can be a bit of a picky eater (despite carrying a little extra weight), but these are small things in the grand picture of who he is—a dog learning, slowly, that he’s safe now.

He’s great with other dogs, gentle in spirit, and just wants a calm, loving home where he can finally exhale.

Cici is a rambunctious little lady with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She came into our lives at just the right time, and it honestly felt like she knew it too.

From the moment we met her, we knew we were ready to welcome another dog—and she made that decision easy.

She’s playful, curious, and full of life, always ready for the next adventure or cuddle. Like any young pup, she’s been working on her manners, and we’ve already seen so much progress.

Our hearts are so full having her in our lives. We’re beyond grateful to Just Paws Rescue and her amazing foster, Angela, for bringing her to us.

It’s been a busy April over here. In just the past week, we’ve welcomed 9 new dogs into our care, and calling them adorable would be an understatement.
Right now, all of them are settling into their foster homes and getting comfortable while their fosters learn more about their personalities. Our veterinary team is also making sure each dog is fully up to date on everything they need.
At this time, none of these dogs will be accepting applications, but their bios will be shared soon. Please keep an eye on our page for updates on when they’ll be ready.

It was love at first look!
Kodak's sweet tender eyes said everything!
And meeting him for the first time showed his loving ways.
He is a calm, gentle, loving boy, with an adorable playfulness.
He loves to snuggle and throw his "lamby" to signal that it is time to play fetch and he loves to take walks and check things out.
Our timing to meet each other was unexpected and oh so perfect!
Each day brings new special moments of joy. He is indeed very special and I feel so lucky to add Kodak into my life!
The Just Paws team has been amazing from intake to meet and greet and beyond. A special thank you to Francesca his amazing foster mom whose care throughout the process was so heartwarming and made our journey very special.

SWAG now CHARLIE has been ADOPTED!

It just didn’t feel like home. The quiet and stillness felt different. Different because I was use to having not one but two furry companions greet me every day for over 18 years but now there was no one. I decided I needed another furry friend in my life and like I had done previously wanted to adopt. I completed an application for Just Paws for an available dog (can’t remember the name) but she had already been adopted so I waited for another suitable match. And there he was, Swaggy (now Charlie). He’s definitely a Charlie. Fur like silk and the cutest little face ever. He’s perfect. Charlie didn’t need the 3-3-3 rule. He settled in immediately. Still a puppy but so smart. Clean, playful and absolutely the cuddliest dog I’ve ever had. Now my home feels like home. The adoption process with Just Paws was warm, informative and extremely informative and thorough. Charlie’s Foster Parents were totally invested in ensuring he was loved and taken care of. I’m sure this helped me with his transition into his new home. I’m in love and so happy I have Charlie in my life.
