NOVA is now LUNA NOVA

Luna Nova

This beautiful being came into our care on August 8, 2026. We officially became a family on August 18, 2026.

She was given the name Nova by her wonderful rescue group, Just Paws. We felt that the name Nova was important to keep as part of her full name. Luna agrees as she truly felt love from the kind volunteers and fosters. We added the name Luna to complete her new beginning.

Luna is thought to be about 8 years old and has travelled between continents in her journey to this part of her life.

She quickly developed a connection with all of us, inviting us for belly rubs and giving kisses. She very much enjoys her outside time observing from her vantage point on the deck, overseeing the backyard activity (squirrels, chipmunks, birds and the occasional raccoon!!), as well as the forest exploration on our property.

While Luna is currently a little floof ball, she is allowing brief periods of gentle brushing and trimming. Stay tuned for glamour shots as we ease her into grooming with lots of TLC.

The trust she has shown us in this short amount of time is so special and we look forward to making many memories with Luna as her magnificent personality continues to shine through.

Sweet Luna Nova, thank you for leaning into me when you sleep and for extra cuddles. We will always have your back.

Meet Mochi!
Mochi is an adorable 1.5-year-old Malipoo who is currently being fostered in Richmond Hill and looking for his forever home!
This handsome little guy has gorgeous white fur that doesn’t shed, although like all Malipoos, he will require regular grooming. Mochi LOVES his people and is incredibly loyal—he’ll happily follow his favourite human around and just wants to be close. He also loves car rides and, when it’s time to relax, he’s perfectly content spending quiet time in his crate. He can sleep peacefully in there all night, making his crate his own safe and happy space. 🥰
Mochi is a smart little guy with a BIG food drive! He already knows basics like “sit” and has a great recall, and he would absolutely love a family who wants to continue his training using high-quality treats. He’s eager to learn and will make training a fun activity for both of you!
On walks, Mochi can get very excited. He pulls and is eager to meet people and dogs, sometimes barking to get their attention. He is friendly with dogs for the most part, but we feel he would thrive as the only pet in the home so he can soak up all the attention and be his family’s one and only.
Mochi does have some work to do with potty training. He was recently neutered, and we’re hopeful that some of his marking will settle as he adjusts. His foster family is continuing to work with him and set him up for success.
Mochi is an alert little guy and will bark to let you know when something is happening, but he is not excessively barky. His foster mom feels he could do well in an apartment as long as he has his crate and safe space to retreat to.
Because Mochi is not comfortable with quick little hands, we are looking for an adult-only home.He has a bit of an edge and likes to make his opinions known! If he doesn’t like something or feels uncomfortable, he may let out a growl so we want to avoid him feeling threatened.
Mochi is such a lovely little character- happy, affectionate, loyal, smart and full of personality. He would love a family who will continue his training, give him structure, lots of love and, of course, plenty of treats.

Introducing Mitch

Mitch is an 8-year-old neutered Maltese mix, weighing about 12 lbs, who is currently being fostered in Toronto.

We don’t know a lot about Mitch’s past, but we understand that he was once very loved. When his owner was no longer able to care for him, Mitch was moved from place to place. After so much change, we are hoping to find him the soft landing he deserves and a family he can finally call his own.

Mitch is an incredibly sweet little guy, although he is shy when he first meets you. He needs someone who will give him a little time and let him come around at his own pace. With some patience and a gentle approach, he warms up quickly, and once he does, you have the most devoted little companion. He loves to follow his people around, looking up at you with his sweet teddy-bear little face.

Mitch is happiest exploring the outdoors in the sun, being curled up beside you on the couch or snuggled on your lap. And if you really want to make Mitch happy, give him a ball! He absolutely loves chasing them. He doesn’t always remember that he is supposed to bring it back, but he certainly enjoys the game! He also likes to walk around the house with his treasured ball (any ball will do!).

Mitch is good with other dogs, and he would likely be fine with a cat who is used to being around dogs (and with an owner who is experienced with dog-cat introductions). He is housetrained, and walks well on a leash. He loves people once he gets to know them and could live in a home with older respectful children who won’t rush the introduction. He does get a little anxious in the car, but otherwise he is an easygoing gentle little guy.

Because of his history, we are looking for someone who has the time to dedicate to Mitch and won’t leave him alone for long periods. His new family should understand that he may need some extra reassurance as he settles in and gets used to having a place he knows is his.

Mitch hadn’t been to the vet in quite some time, so we will be taking care of getting him seen by a vet while he is in our care. His forever family will need to be committed to keeping up with his ongoing veterinary care and regular grooming so he can stay healthy and looking his handsome best.

More than anything, we want this to be Mitch’s last move. He has had enough uncertainty in his life. Now he deserves a comfortable couch, someone to throw his ball for him (even if he doesn’t bring it back), and a family who will make sure he knows he is loved.

Mitch has so much love to give. He just needs someone to give him the chance.

MONICA is ADOPTED!

Dear Just Paws,
One month ago we adopted our precious new fur baby! We are so happy, and in love with her...and I sense she feels the same! She has settled in so well, and Angel enjoys her company as well . Monica is quite a love bug! Please tell her Mexican friends 'all is good'.

Just Paws out did themselves, throughout the entire process. It was apparent that all the volunteers were very committed to finding the perfect fit! Kudos to Deb, who was always available to speak with me, and Karen, who was Monica's foster mom. I sincerely wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rescue association and all involved!

Happy ADOPTION Day ROLO!

Rolo (formerly Zafiro) has adapted super quickly to our family. She enjoys an assortment of laps to choose from. She’s such a cuddler and a snorer. She has taken a special liking to my daughter and she’s the first choice. The adoption process was long and rigorous but for good reason. Rolo is such a loving and gentle dog. We feel so lucky to be chosen to adopt Rolo. Our lives are now more centred around Rolo — spending time at home with her or going for walks or taking her wherever we go. Our favourite thing about Rolo is how cute she is and her good nature. She wants to meet all the dogs and people who cross her path.

Finik is a 3-year-old, 11 lb Havanese mix with the sweetest face, a permanent sparkle in his eye, and a little bounce in his step! This adorable guy loves going for walks and is a fantastic leash walker. Hes the perfect little neighbourhood walking buddy!

Finik came to Just Paws after his family was moving and sadly couldnt bring him along. He lived happily with another dog in his previous home, and we think having a friendly fur sibling in his new home would be wonderful for him. Another dog helps Finik feel more confident and gives him a buddy to follow around and hang out with.

Finik is house-trained and a pretty independent little guy. Hes perfectly happy doing his own thing and doesnt need to be attached to you every second of the day. He will, however, happily let you know when someone is at the door or something interesting is happening outside!

Finik can be shy when meeting new people or when things get busy. He is a sweet boy, not an aggressive one, but quick movements can startle him, so he needs a family who will let him take his time and come out of his shell at his own pace. He does well with kids, but older children who understand personal space and can give him time to approach when hes ready would be the best fit.

And of course, that gorgeous Havanese coat means Finik will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best.
Finik is looking for a calm, loving home where he can feel safe, build his confidence, have a canine buddy by his side, and be loved exactly as he is.

Happy ADOPTION Day to BEAR and COLE!

Hi Just Paws -

I just wanted to share some photos and an update on Cole & Bear.

They are the sweetest boys, and have settled in well. They love taking walks with their new sister Snowey, and finding new places for naps (couches, dog beds, and human beds are all favourites!) It’s so special watching their bond together, they are truly attached at the hip. This past weekend they got to meet their “extended family” (my daughter’s dogs, pictured) and enjoyed all the extra play time that ensued. We feel so blessed to have Cole & Bear in our family & home, thank you!

“Donna is busy living her best life these days. She goes in daily walks with her doggy pack and has Moose the cat (also a Just Paws rescue) for company at home. She’s a great little dog but still requires some work to deal with some anxieties she has from her early days in Mexico. This is a work in progress but it’s hard to believe I’ve almost had Donna for one year now - she’s such a funny, affectionate and loving little girl - another Just Paws success story!

“As we approach Buddy’s first anniversary.

When we decided to adopt a second rescue, we felt ready to adopt a younger, higher energy dog as a companion for Kyle, our older dog (also a Just Paws rescue). We certainly got what we were looking for!
He arrived from a rural area to midtown Toronto and at first he barked at everything. Over the past year, he has become a serene, cuddly, loving, and affectionate dog with everyone - except squirrels, joggers, cyclists and leather shoes. We are still working the calm/serene part when on a leash but Maggi our trainer has taught us some great tricks.
He is so high energy, loves his balls and tug toys and the bear he arrived here with is still his best friend (the only stuffy he has not totally destroyed).
As we look back over the 8 years since we adopted our first Just Paws rescue, we have been reflecting on how rewarding it to give these sweeties a good home and how much affection they give us.”
