It is with great sadness that we share the passing of an incredible human, Shaun of Dog Hero.
Shaun dedicated his life to helping rescue dogs find safety, love, and forever homes. His compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to animals touched countless lives both human and canine. He will be deeply missed by the rescue community and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, another tragedy has occurred. Shaun’s beloved dog, Cheddar, was involved in a serious accident and was struck by a vehicle. As a result, she now requires extensive orthopedic surgery that will cost thousands of dollars.
This difficult situation also serves as an important reminder of why rescue organizations often require martingale collars and double-leash systems for rescue dogs. These safety measures can help prevent devastating accidents and keep vulnerable dogs safe.
