It’s been a busy week around the ranch as we work through some of our newest arrivals.

Before any horse is offered for sale, we spend a lot of time getting to know them as individuals. We assess where they are currently in their training, identify their strengths and weaknesses, evaluate temperament, soundness, and overall suitability for different types of riders.

We take the time to ride them, handle them, expose them to new situations, and build a clear picture of who they are and what kind of home they’ll thrive in. Some need more miles, some need more confidence, some need more buttons, and some are already well on their way.😎

It’s been a busy week around the ranch as we work through some of our newest arrivals.

Before any horse is offered for sale, we spend a lot of time getting to know them as individuals. We assess where they are currently in their training, identify their strengths and weaknesses, evaluate temperament, soundness, and overall suitability for different types of riders.

Someone is seriously sleeping on this mare! 💎

Meet Maggie, a 4-year-old grade dun mare standing a solid 14.2–14.3 HH, with eye-catching dun markings and a kind, easy-going personality.

Maggie is a sweet, honest young mare with a kind and willing attitude. She tries hard for you every ride and wants to get things right.
She’s been a pleasure to bring along!

She’s going walk, jog, and lope, has a nice stop coming along, backs willingly, sidepasses, and a decent turnaround started.
She’s softening nicely, moving off leg pressure, and developing the foundation expected of a quality young riding horse.

Maggie enjoys having a job and is happiest when she’s part of your routine. She can be a little reserved when meeting new people at first, but she’s kind, easy to handle with excellent manners and warms up quickly once she gets to know you. There isn’t a mean bone in this mare’s body.

She is sensible both in and out of the arena, has been ridden out on the trails, and continues to gain confidence and experience with every ride. She’s been started correctly, allowed to progress at her own pace, and has never ever offered any buck, rear, or bolt.

With her gentle disposition, attractive colour, and solid start, Maggie is the kind of young mare that will continue to improve with mileage and make someone a very enjoyable partner for years to come.

✨ Current Horses In Training ✨
* Info for each horse under their photo 👇

We’ve had a really fun group of young mares in the barn lately — kind, willing, smart, and all very different in their own ways 👏

Here are 6 of the current girls in training, with about 10 more up-and-coming horses arriving over the next few weeks 👀🐴

Some are just getting started in their formal training, while others are already becoming really solid, versatile horses with bright futures ahead of them.

Under each photo you’ll find a little info about each mare, where they’re at in their training journey, and what type of direction we think they may excel in ✨

Some are ready to go now, while others will continue staying in training a bit longer while we keep developing them.

✨ Maggie Spam ✨
Today’s lesson with Maggie:
• Lead departures
• Improving her stop
• Teaching her to get off her front end and really step underneath herself instead of getting a little “jammy” up front 👏
• Starting to learn how to open and close gates like a big girl 🚪✨

Young horses naturally want to balance on the forehand, especially when they’re learning transitions and stops. The goal is helping them carry themselves better behind, stay softer through the body, and learn to use their hind end instead of just pulling themselves around with the front end 💪

Apparently part of Emily’s training method includes making increasingly concerning noises whenever Maggie lands on her front end during a stop 💀😂
(If you hear random sound effects in the background… no you didn’t.)

We finished the day with a solo ride with the dogs tagging along, which is honestly great for desensitizing and building confidence out on the trail 🐕🐕

AND… we saw our first bear of the year 😳🐻
Maggie handled it better than the humans… hence why there is absolutely no footage of said bear 💀😂🐻

✅SCOOTER SAFE✅
When your hauler messages and says:
“Good news… if nothing else, you can say you can lead her on a scooter.” 🛴🐴😂

Honestly at this point we’re just adding random skills to our horses…
✔️ Walks, jogs, lopes
✔️ Loads and hauls well
✔️ Apparently scooter broke too 🤷‍♀️
