FIR + BARK IS HIRING! 🐺

We’re looking for a K9 Wilderness Adventure Handler to join our growing crew in Squamish, BC.

This isn’t your average dog walking job. Your days are spent out on the trails with a pack of dogs, getting to know their individual quirks, building relationships and learning how to move through the mountains together safely.

Fir + Bark is run by a professional dog trainer so there’s a big focus on understanding the dogs you’re working with, not just getting them out for a hike. You’ll gain hands on knowledge in dog behaviour, body language, pack dynamics and handling along the way.

WHAT YOUR DAYS LOOK LIKE

• Leading groups of dogs on wilderness trail hikes
• Cruising around Squamish in one of our company Tacomas for pick ups + drop offs
• Spending most of your workday outside year round
• Managing off leash groups and getting to know each dog
• Helping dogs build confidence, skills and good trail manners

YOU MIGHT BE OUR PERSON IF YOU

• Have experience with dogs or animals
• Are physically fit and genuinely enjoy hiking for hours
• Feel comfortable being alone in the forest with a pack of dogs
• Are calm, observant and confident taking the lead
• Have a full driver’s licence and are comfortable driving our trucks
• Are reliable, friendly and open to learning

THE DETAILS

Company truck + all dog and hiking gear are provided along with K9 handling, behaviour, safety and basic first aid training.

You’ll work independently a lot of the time but have a team behind you and plenty of mentorship while you learn the ropes.

And yes! Your office is basically the Squamish backcountry with a bunch of really great dogs.

🐺 WE’RE HIRING | K9 Wilderness Adventure Handler 🏔️

Fir + Bark is growing and we’re looking for the right person to join our Wolfpack in Squamish, BC.

This is NOT your average dog walking job.

If your ideal day involves mountain roads, forest trails, backcountry adventures, and working alongside dogs in the outdoors… keep reading.

We’re looking for someone who truly loves dogs, enjoys the outdoors, and wants to grow into the world of dog training and canine behaviour over time. We want someone grounded, calm under pressure, physically capable, and excited to become part of a fun, structured, wilderness-focused team.

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum 1–2 years professional experience working with dogs
• Experience with reactive, anxious, under-socialized, or high-drive dogs
• Experience reading canine body language and managing group dynamics
• Experience conducting client meet-and-greets and assessing dog suitability
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Experience assisting with training structure or behavioural work is a bonus
• Comfortable driving trucks and navigating forest service roads and backcountry terrain
• Able to work independently in outdoor environments
• Reliable, coachable, organized, and physically capable of hiking daily in all weather conditions
• Experience with content creation. Especially outdoor and animal focused

Your days may include:

🐾 Leading structured off-leash wilderness pack hikes
🐾 Managing dog behaviour and group dynamics on trail
🐾 Supporting training structure during hikes and daily routines
🐾 Conducting meet-and-greets and helping onboard new dogs
🐾 Transporting dogs safely around Squamish and into the mountains
🐾 Capturing photo and video content for client updates and social media
🐾 Assisting with scheduling, organization, supply management, and day-to-day business operations

💰 Pay starts at $22/hr during training (depending on experience). Once training is successfully completed, pay moves to $25/hr, with room to grow up to $35/hr over time based on performance, responsibilities, and continued development. Monthly tips aswell!
