5 Tips for nervous riders, from Royale's riders who've felt it all before. 💜
Whether you're recovering from a fall, worried about a new, unfamiliar horse, or just the plain old fear of the unknown, most of us have been there.
1️⃣ Talk it Out – horses are great listeners, and talking through your fears helps anchor your focus.
2️⃣ Box Breathing – Breathing techniques like box breathing allow you to remain focused and calm.
3️⃣ Connect and Observe – Just like people, horses have unique personalities. Get to know your mount by spending some extra time observing them in the paddock or grooming them. Your connection starts on the ground.
4️⃣ Take it Slow – Ask your coach to break an exercise down into small steps if you feel nervous. Once you've built your confidence, try the full exercise. It's okay to take a step back.
5️⃣ Practice Positive Self-Talk – Be your own biggest cheerleader. Rephrasing nervous or negative thoughts can boost your morale and overall confidence.
