Meet Peach, a young dog around 1 year old, who learned in one evening that humans can also be kind.
One evening, our patrol officer received an emergency call: a dog was running down the middle of Maloney Boulevard! 😱 A kind-hearted citizen managed to get her to safety in his vehicle and take her home. However, due to medical circumstances, he was unable to keep her... and we were asked to pick her up.
"When I arrived, Peach was terrified. She backed away with all her might, frozen with fear. I got down to her level, slowed my breathing, and spoke to her softly. Little by little, she calmed down, approached, and then came to me. Once I put the leash on her, she cuddled to my leg, asking for cuddles, her voice trembling.
At the shelter, it was a completely different Peach who got off the truck: her tail wagging, clearly inviting us to play! We went for a short walk together before returning to her enclosure. A first victory. 💖"
Today, Peach has gained confidence and is ready to write the next chapter of her life, alongside people who will know how to support her.
