Patient Spotlight 🐾
Miss Lulu Ladybug is a 4-year-old Greyhound who was rescued by her lovely owners from an Irish rescue in 2024. Miss Lulu has been a patient with us ever since!
Recently, in June, Miss Lulu presented with the sudden onset of red, swollen eyes in both eyes. We performed several eye tests in hospital and discussed a diagnosis of pannus.
What is pannus?
Pannus is an immune-mediated, hereditary corneal eye disease. It causes a pink, red, or dark film to spread across the clear cornea and can be worsened by exposure to UV light and high altitudes.
Since Miss Lulu’s diagnosis, she has been receiving Optimmune eye drops three times a day. She also wears specialized goggles to help protect her eyes from bright UV light when she is outdoors.
Miss Lulu comes in for regular rechecks, and since her initial diagnosis, we have seen a significant improvement in her eyes! She is such a star, and we are so happy to show her off. 💙🐾
Miss Lulu wants all her animals friends to know that even with chronic eye conditions, it’s absolutely possible to live a full, happy, and stylish life! With regular follow-ups, medications, and a little help from her diligent pawrents, she’s proof that a chronic condition doesn’t have to stop you from enjoying life- and looking fabulous while doing it 😉💙
