After three incredibly difficult days filled with an emergency C-section, post-surgery complications, heartbreak, and more sleepless hours than we can count, we are finally able to introduce you to Violet’s little survivor. 🤎

Meet Kenai. 🐻
D.O.B. 08/05/26

Through everything these past few days have brought, I don’t think I could be more proud of Violet.

She is still recovering from her C-section and everything her body has been through, while at the same time learning how to be a mom for the very first time. She has been delicate, thoughtful, brave, loving, strong and protective. Even while she is healing herself, her little bear is always her priority.

She absolutely adores him. 🤎

There is also a very special story behind the names of Violet’s three boys.

This was our very first litter of three boys, and when it came time to name them, Brother Bear immediately came to mind. That movie has always held a very special place in our hearts because of our Koda — and now, all these years later, Koda is the great-grandmother of these three little boys. 🤎

It felt like the names had simply fallen into our hands.

And so our three little bears became Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai.

What we never could have known was just how much meaning those names would come to carry.

Sadly, our little Sitka did not survive the birth and C-section. In Brother Bear, Sitka’s spirit watches over his brothers from above, and somehow that part of the story now feels especially close to our hearts. We like to think that our little Sitka is doing the same — watching over his brothers from above. 🤍

Then, heartbreakingly, our little Denahi took a turn for the worse. We were only given one short day with him before we had to say goodbye.

And now our little Kenai carries on, with not one, but two brothers watching over him. 🤍🐻

It certainly isn't the way we ever wanted our own Brother Bear story to unfold, but there is something comforting about knowing these three little boys will always be connected.

After everything that has happened, seeing Kenai tucked safely beside his mom feels incredibly special.

Right now, Violet and Kenai are both recovering well. Violet is eating and slowly getting stronger, and Kenai is doing exactly what a growing little bear should be doing — eating, sleeping and gaining weight. And with the entire milk bar to himself, he certainly has plenty of options. 😂🐻

For a first-time mom, Violet has been incredible. Watching her care for him while recovering herself has shown me another side of this beautiful girl.

I am so proud of my Violet. She has been unbelievably strong through all of this, and I am completely in love with her little man.

Wherever Kenai’s journey takes him, and whatever name he may one day be called at home, Kenai will always be part of his registered name. His name carries a story that belongs to him — the story of Violet, three little bears, two brothers watching over him, and one little survivor who kept fighting. 🤎🐻

Welcome to the world, Kenai. 🤎🐾

Our little survivor, with two very special brothers watching over him. 🤍

After a long week in the show ring, these girls made me incredibly proud.

Dorothy and Blossom worked their hearts out for me. They listened, stayed focused, and kept such positive attitudes throughout the weekend. Seeing them enjoy being in the ring with me makes all the hard work worthwhile.

This was Blossom's second dog show, but her first time competing over three consecutive days. By the end of the weekend she was definitely feeling tired, but with a few extra treats and plenty of encouragement, she kept giving it her all.

Dorothy also earned a few more points toward her Canadian Championship, and I couldn't be prouder of the progress she's made. She has gone from struggling to stand still during her examination and carrying her tail low, to holding her stack while the judge examines her and keeping her tail up and wagging.

She's a beautiful example of what perseverance can accomplish. Consistent training, regular positive exposure, patience, and empathy truly go a long way.

The more I show my own dogs, the more I realize how much they genuinely want to work with me and make me proud. Building that partnership and trust is one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. ❤️

A huge thank you to Allison for helping me show Blossom throughout the week. Your help meant so much. Thank you as well to Natalie for keeping an eye on the dogs at home and for stepping into the ring with us. Even though showing isn't really your favorite thing, you did an amazing job, and I truly appreciate you jumping in to help. I couldn't have done it without you both. 🥰

Special Home Wanted – Bernese Mountain Dog

We are considering the possibility of placing one of our young Bernese Mountain Dogs in a carefully selected forever home.

He is 1.7 years old and currently lives here at Blazing Stars, where he is thriving alongside our other dogs. He loves having canine companions to play with and enjoys being part of everyday life around the home.

He is an incredibly sweet, intelligent boy with a fun personality. He has plenty to say and isn't shy about talking back! Whenever he's excited, you'll almost always find him proudly carrying a toy in his mouth. He absolutely loves the water and enjoys spending time outdoors.

He is wonderful with people and gets along well with other dogs. A home with another friendly dog would certainly be a bonus, although it is not a requirement.

He does have a medical consideration that requires thoughtful long-term management. We are looking for a family committed to providing regular exercise, maintaining him in a lean body condition, and working with their veterinarian to ensure he continues to live a happy, active life. Additional details will be shared with serious applicants.

We will be extremely selective when choosing his future family. Finding the right home is far more important than finding one quickly, and we are happy to wait for the perfect match. If we do not find a home that meets our expectations, he will happily remain with us at Blazing Stars.

If you believe you may be the right fit and would like to learn more, please contact us by email at [email protected].

This weekend at the OKC was such a special one for our girls 💛

First, a huge congratulations to Violet and Dorothy for earning their CGN title — Canine Good Neighbour! I am incredibly proud of them and all the hard work, obedience, and heart they continue to show every day.

Dorothy and Blossom also stepped into the exhibition ring this weekend and came home with ribbons! While we didn’t add any points toward titles this time, the experience and progress made it all worthwhile.

Blossom had a beautiful introduction to the ring on Saturday for her very first dog show. She listened well, moved with a lovely stride, and showed so much potential. I can’t wait to watch her grow 💕

Dory also earned Reserve Winner today in a lineup of 4 females! So proud of my girls for their obedience, their heart, and their willingness to work with me.

As the first show of the season, we truly had a blast — and this is only the beginning ✨

Also, sorry I didn’t take as many pictures as I wanted this weekend — we were too busy having fun and enjoying every moment!

Last night, Dorothy and Blossom proudly represented our program and purebred dogs registered with the Canadian Kennel Club at Pets Canada Hill Day.

A heartfelt thank you for the warm hospitality—we truly appreciated being part of a great event. The girls came home very tired after all the excitement, but safe to say they thoroughly enjoyed an evening full of cuddles and attention. 🐾

Milestone for Blazing Stars💗

Our beautiful Koda, I'M ON MY WAY BLAZING STAR KODA, turned 11 years old today!

This makes me so proud as a breeder. Koda has produced such a beautiful line of dogs, and reaching 11 years old is a true reflection of the longevity that runs in her veins. It gives me so much hope that her progeny will carry that same strength and longevity forward.

Koda is aging so well. She is still active, still incredibly smart, and still has that special spark she had in her prime — even if she gets a little sore when she pushes herself too hard. We love her so much.

Thank you, Cindy Donahue, for this beautiful girl. Eleven years ago, Koda flew to us from South Carolina. Part of her name was inspired by the movie Brother Bear. As Disney fans, we chose her name based on her look, and the song, On My Way, from the movie always makes me think of her first few weeks with us as she made her journey from the U.S. to Canada.

Happy 11th birthday, Koda💗
