And then there were 5! Dia became my 5th SD-CH dog this weekend, wrapping it up under Chris (I forgot to get a pic with her ooops!) yesterday. She's such a fun dog to play with, and showed even in standing heat girls can work and boys can cope!

Busy day today as Instructors Stephanie and Deb accompanied some of our Scent demo teams to the Carp Farmers' Market this morning before the afternoons classes. Lots of distractions to work through which was a GREAT training opportunity (yes including searching boxes with children seated on them!) and a wonderful way to introduce others to the sport! All dogs can play in this sport but we are very appreciative of the teams who are dog/child/human safe giving up a Saturday morning to demo in this environment - thanks to Jane for helping and to teams Gunnar, Mazu, Zenya, Dietrich, Sage, Hades, and Mason with special drop ins from Brooklyn and Oakley 💞

Another Championship title for Rychly and Steph! Despite his characteristic overzealousness he went 5 for 6 today under Chelsea at Fire and Ice SDDA games trial to complete his Distance and Speed titles which gave him his SD-GCH. He also filled in for Quinn Vom Steyerberg and teamed up with Molly & Night Fury to earn his first team Q. He will maybe play an Elite close to home but for now he "retires" - which is a loose term as he plays with Morgan and maybe occasionally me and will work on finishing his team title. So name change time! He is now SD-MACH SD-GCH Rychly Van Sinova GPR2 SD-GA SD-GS SD-GD 💞

New SDDA Games class session starting August 6th!

Never done SDDA Games? Struggle with the accuracy needed for speed? Working heights in aerial? The independence for distance? Or strategies for successful Team searches? This 8 week course is designed to build your skills in games from the ground up. Many times issues passing games are due to a lack of breaking things down into appropriate chunks and skills. We'll work on foundations and build them step by step to completed games. This class is limited to 4 dogs. Sign up:

I had to wait until she'd announced it herself to brag on her, but Instructor Morgan completed her first ever SD-MACh with Mayhem yesterday alongside Rych and I! I'm so proud to see how they've progressed as a team! Today Morgan also faced her "fears" and handled Rychly in Exterior and came away with a whole new confidence in her ability to read and handle a different dog style. Meanwhile Dia and I wrapped up her SD-E with a 200/200! She now needs just 1 Excellent Exterior for her SD-Ch and then 1 full Excellent title for her SD-MACH as well. With a little luck maybe we can finish her up this year too! Separately Stryd worked well and earned perfect scores in Advanced Containers and Exteriors today with me as well! It was a big weekend and we'll make a bigger detail post soon :)

SD-MACH Rychly Van Sinova GPR2 SD-GA 💞😍😭

And then there were 4. My boy (who seems to think 6 feet away is close enough in exterior and that offering an alert to my attempts at direction should be rewarded) and I somehow have managed to pull exteriors together banking 4 qs in a row to complete his retirement project. He joins his half sisters and neice now as my 4th breeder handler owner trained MACH dog 💞

After a tough decision to stop pursuing his GPR3 when I started noticing very occasional flares of an old injury showing up in ball - knowing he would be reckless enough with his body to risk a more serious issue - the old man got thrown into SDDA. Containers and Interiors weren't an issue, but for a dog who has always preferred the looser standards of work scent vs the precision of sport scent and who has had such a long history of obedience work, exteriors presented a challenge. He didn't have a problem finding odor, but the idea that a foot away wasn't good enough boggled his mind. Paired with his history of training including offering behaviors it lead to as many no in exterior as yes. But with time and some training and handling adjustments he's actually come a lot father than expected and today under Guy LaHaye we finally wrapped it up. At 12.5 I know any day could be the last and I'm both happy and relieved we can say he has this title.

Oh did I mention he also pulled a speed Q out finding 3 hides in 32 seconds? He needs 1 more tomorrow to add that title too.

Oh and also Morgan stepped in so Stryd could still play today and handled her to a 60/60 and 59/60 in Advanced Containers and Exterior. Now I will be able to handle my own dogs again but I'm so happy to know I always have a backup! Tomorrow we attempt to wrap Dias Excellent title, bank more Advanced with Stryd and wrap up Rychly speed

Thanks to our judge and all our volunteers, you guys were amazing today and looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

As for my Golden Child, he'll continue to wrap up his SDDA Games titles, play in Advanced, Excellent and Elite when I'm not running other, but we both miss competition obedience venues so maybe we'll try our hand at CARO Rally ;)
