We are a 100% VOLUNTEER-based organization located in the Parry Sound/Muskoka, Ontario region. Animals in our care are fostered in a home environment with our loving volunteers. Fundraising and Donations make it possible to save lives. Every penny raised goes directly to the veterinary care of animals in our rescue who would otherwise not have a second chance. 🚨MEET KATY-KAT 🚨

Welcome to Cottage Paws Rescue Katy-Kat 🐈‍⬛
This sweet girl has had a whirlwind the last 4 days !!!
She went from being left in a home when her owners moved out, to being fed by a very allergic landlord trying to help & advocate for them the best she could, to being surrendered to Cottage Paws Rescue 🐾, to being spayed & vaccinated the next day, to being in a new foster home 🏡.
Her life has been turned upside down and Katy-Kat is just the sweetest thing.
She's approximately 2 years old.
Huge thank you 🙏🏿 to Elaine for stepping up and fostering her.
FOSTERING SAVES LIVES and allows us to say YES .
We can't wait to see Katy-Kat's new chapter in life ♥️

About Moose :
✅3 year old Springer Spaniel
✅Neutered and up to date on vaccines
✅Good with kids, people, other dogs and cats and has grown up with them
✅He's a good boy and still full of that springer spaniel energy
✅No noted behavioral issues

Moose has been well looked after and loved by his family.
Unfortunately their family situation and dynamics have drastically changed. Their grown kids no longer live close by, the father is very ill and can't exercise the dog, the mom has taken on extra shifts to provide for their family and can't exercise the dog.
The grown kids considered helping and taking Moose but they work shift work and live in an apartment. Their situation has become overwhelming and heartbreaking .
The family has entrusted us to help find Moose his new home 🏡.

The girl that gave us a few heart attacks as well as a few sleepless nights 🌙is SECURED & SAFE

A HUGE thank you 🙏🏿to my team (Tory & Jennifer) that gave up hours of their time tracking through bushes & fields, talking to homes 🏠near where she'd been spotted, setting up cameras, leaving food and returning to check the food stations and driving around trying to locate this dog. Thank you Tory for spear heading this search.
As always thank you 🙏🏿 to the AMAZING and knowledgeable Kellie Revell for being available and our lifeline and our guidance to safely securing this dog. Kellie has helped us secure multiple other dogs in our area.
Thank you 🙏🏿 to our community for all the texts and phone calls when she was spotted. Thank you 🙏🏿 to those that joined along with us to help find her.
Thank you 🙏🏿 to the Anna & Kevin who have been amazing!!! They allowed us to search on their property (not everyone does) and they wanted to help. They let us set up food for her too. In hopes that she'd come back and 24 hours later she came back. Thank you for your time ⏰and your patience. YOU are the reason this dog is now secured.

This dog was almost hit by cars 🚗multiple times Thursday & Friday on hwy 400, the on and off ramps of hwy 400, McDougall Rd, Bowes St, Oastler Park Drive and Hwy 518. She literally had 9 lives. We are so incredibly thankful how this turned out. Tory and I were at the Parry Sound Inn & Suites and we heard car tires squealing and horns beeping. We knew it was HER. We jumped in the vehicle and drove to where all the cars were on the off ramp to the hwy 400 feeling absolutely sick to our stomachs about what we might find. She was narrowly missed by a car. This was only one of many other instances we heard of. She was using the road ways to travel and she was not road savvy at all :(

What we know about this dog:
*It's a girl 🩷 (Tory and I had been calling her a girl since we first had eyes on her)
*Estimating 1-2 years old
*70ish pounds
*She is seeking love & attention but her trust had to be gained.
*She had porcupine quills that have now been removed - she's seeing a vet tomorrow
*She had 3 ticks on her
*all in all, she's in great shape and most likely has not been on the run long
*For the time being, she has been named MAGGIE.
*We don't know if she's spayed
*We don't know if she's dog friendly
*We don't know if she's cat friendly
*It has been confirmed via a video FaceTime that this is NOT 🚫 the dog named Abby from Triple Star Acre Farm (we are sorry that she's still missing )

We have to do things LEGALLY so MAGGIE will be at Parry Sound Bylaw for her stray hold.
When the stray hold is up, she will be joining us at Cottage Paws Rescue 🐾.
We are looking forward to changing this girl's life for the better.

UPDATE: this dog had one heck of a day today. At 5am the dog was in the RONA parking lot in Parry Sound - almost was hit 2 x that we know of on Oastler park drive :(.
The dog travelled further down the highway and the last sighting was at 3pm ⏰today (FRIDAY)
We have set up a feeding station up and scented a trail to it.
This dog has been on the highway 400 multiple times and has been almost hit every time 😭and almost caused a few accidents.

What we know 👇
The dog is about the same size as a golden retriever (English retrievers are white) best guess is the dog is about 70 pounds.
Not wearing a collar.
Undetermined what s*x it is.
A younger dog 1-2 years.

NO ONE has come forward to say it is their dog or that their dog is missing so best guess is that this dog has been dumped. The dog is using the 400 and side highways to get around and is not 🚫 road savvy at all. We are guessing the dog was dumped on an off ramp at Parry Sound.
Our biggest fear at this moment is that the dog is going to be hit by a car 🚗.
Please be careful driving if you are in and around the Parry Sound area.

If you are in the Parry Sound/Muskoka area PLEASE SHARE THE HECK OUT OF THIS ‼️
We need to know where the dog is sticking around - we also don't want the dog spooked and leaving the area, so again please don't chase or call out if seen.
We have the help of a professional dog tracker that finds lost dogs and secures dumped dogs and we are following her direction and she's helped us with other dogs in the past.

🚨THE THINGS WE DONT TALK ABOUT IN RESCUE BUT MAYBE WE SHOULD 🚨

We took in sweet WINNIE 2 weeks ago and her first stop 🛑 was at the vet because we were told that she maybe pregnant. After a thorough exam we were told that she might be pregnant and if so she wasn't far at all.
She was spayed today.
We did not wait.

I'm angry.
I cried today.
I full out ugly cried.
Winnie's foster mom is angry.
Winnie's foster mom cried today.

This 6 year old dog 🐶 that had litter after litter after litter after litter after litter after litter and never went a heat without having puppies had been way further along pregnant than anyone could have predicted. Her stomach was a mess from all the litters this dog had for profit 💲

Do the math.
6 years = 12 heats x 5-8 puppies per litter = 60-96 puppies that Winnie birthed in her six years of life.

Her last litter of puppies she had in January were sick. She was sick.
Letting Winnie give birth again was not 🚫 an option that any of us were willing to take. Her body had enough of having babies and her body was trying to tell her previous people when she had her last litter.
Today there were 5 puppies.
5 puppies if let be born most likely would have been sick.
Winnie's tired body most likely would have been sick again too.
Her stretched out teetes show the years of birthing and caring for puppies. We had to have a lump removed off one of her teetes too.

Winnie lost a lot of blood during her surgery today plus she had an allergic reaction to one of the medications from the anesthesia.

Winnie is home now and she's resting and is well.
Despite all this, she's still the sweetest girl🩷

Maybe we don't talk about these things enough in rescue.
Nobody wants to talk about 5 little puppies not getting to be born and live.
But dang it, I'm angry that we had to make this tough call and we loved Winnie enough to not repeat her litter in January.
Winnie at 6 years old, will finally get to "dog"

Please say a few prayers 🙏🏿that our sweet girl remains good through the weekend.
We can't wait to see her GLOW UP ☀️....she so deserves this ‼️

We know roughly where the dog is and have a plan - and we have to try and keep it in one place.

PARRY SOUND /MCDOUGALL RD/PARRY SOUND INN & SUITES/MCDONALD'S AREA

There is a white (English Retriever type) roaming this area. First seen late last night (Wednesday) and multiple times throughout the day. It almost was hit on the hwy 400 on/off ramps and on McDougall road at least 3x.
We do not 🚫 know if the dog belongs to anyone as no one has come forward yet - dog is not wearing a collar.

Please please be careful driving in this area 🚗.
We've enlisted the help of our good friend Kellie Revell on direction on "how to" best do this.

This dog is TERRIFIED.
It is running scared.
It is in FIGHT FLIGHT FREEZE MODE.
What does that mean❓
Their bodies and brain are in survival mode. Everyone and everything feels dangerous to them. They don't sleep.
Calling for them and walking towards them terrifies them even more and can send them running blindly into dangerous situations.

We are working on a plan - if you see this dog please text either of the numbers on the poster below 👇 and note the location and direction the dog is travelling and the time you saw it.
Please don't chase or call the dog.

We had eyes on the dog tonight but had to call it a night.

🚨FIFI UPDATE🚨

11 months ago, FIFI was returned to us from her adoptive home. We decided that she would be a good fit at Toe Beans Cat Cafe 🐈‍⬛. She was only part of their cafe for a few days before she was adopted by Allaire and family.
We always try really hard to get it right the first time when we do an adoption so it is super disappointing when it doesn't work.
So it is happy tears when the second home is a PERFECT match.
In Fifi's case, we believe that she does much better with another cat 🐈in the household.

And this is how it's going at Fifis new home 🏠 👇

It's been 9, almost 10 months now since we got Fifi so I just wanted to send an update.

She is amazing and has settled right in with our family. We simultaneously can't believe it's already been 9 months while feeling like she's always been with us. I guess that's what happens when you find a missing piece of your family.

She is such a sweet, loving, kind and gentle soul. We are more than grateful to give her all the love she will allow us to give.

🚨WE'VE HAD A BUSY 2 WEEKS 🚨
Here are some updates...
In the last 2 weeks we have:

✅Officially welcomed Katy-Kat 🐈‍⬛ (we didn't tell you about her) and the pregnant momma cat 🐈‍⬛- they are being picked up Thursday evening and Katy-Kat is getting spayed and vaccinated Friday morning and will be going to her new foster home to recover. Momma cat is going to her new foster home 🏡 and we will wait for her babies to be born. I say it will be next week 🤔
✅officially welcomed Winnie🐕‍🦺 and she had a vet appointment to make sure we were safe to procede with her spay. She is suspected to be pregnant but if she is it's not far along. Winnie's spay is this Friday morning - she will be vaccinated at same time as well as have a lump removed from her teet while she's under and she has a few sebaceous cysts that will be removed too.
This girl is finally going to retire from having puppies. Stay tuned - when she's healed, she will be available for adoption. She's a lovely girl.
✅officially welcomed a very tiny Wednesday 🐈‍⬛way too young to be away from her mom and siblings yet. She's in her foster home and is thriving. As soon as she is old enough to be spayed, she will be and then available for adoption.
✅Joey 🐈‍⬛had to go to the vet last Friday with a UTI...he needed meds and he is doing better now and on the mend.
✅Raven🐈‍⬛ & Skittles🐈‍⬛ also had a trip to the vet to update their vaccines. We appreciate the family of their deceased owner taking care of that vet bill. Unfortunately we found out some not so great news for Skittles - she has to have 6 teeth removed that are reabsorbing into her gum :( We have requested a few quotes and will be deciding where to get the procedure done in the next week. We have a potential adopter for them after this is all done :)
