BC SPCA Maple Ridge The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable animals and mobilizing communities so animals and people thrive together.

This page is for supporters of the BC SPCA. We welcome feedback and discussions for all those who wish to share opinions or ask questions. By participating in conversations on this page, you are agreeing to our commenting policy, as follows:

We reserve the right to delete posts that include any of the following:

Meet Hadanii! 🐾 Looking for a loyal companion with a heart as big as her paws? Meet Hadanii, a 1.5-year-old spayed Rottie/Kelpie cross who's ready to find her forever family! Hadanii is a sweet girl who gets along well with other dogs and is already house-trained. She knows how to sit and is eager to learn more, especially when treats are involved! Like many young dogs, she's still working on remembering that she's a big girl and that jumping up on people isn't the best way to say hello. When meeting new people, Hadanii can be a little shy at first. Give her a few tasty treats and a little patience, and you'll quickly see her playful, affectionate personality shine through. Once she trusts you, she's a wonderful companion who loves being part of the action. Our shelter animals are due for an enrichment refresh! Over time, toys, puzzles, and activity items become well-loved, chewed, and worn out. To help keep our animals happy, healthy, and mentally stimulated, we're hoping to restock some of their favorite enrichment items.

We're also running low on a few housekeeping essentials that help us keep the shelter clean, safe, and comfortable for the animals in our care.

Meet Skye

Don't let her age fool you-Skye is 8½ years young and still has plenty of pep in her step! This beautiful German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix is a sweet, friendly girl who is always ready to be part of the action.

Skye absolutely loves people and is wonderful with children. She has a warm, affectionate personality and is happiest when she's getting attention from her favourite humans. With her happy energy and lovable nature, Skye has plenty of life and adventures left to share.

One thing to know about Skye is that she resource guards her food from other animals, so she'll need to be fed separately and given her space while eating. With that simple management in place, she's ready to focus on what she does best: being a wonderful companion.

If you're looking for a friendly, affectionate dog who proves that age is just a number, Skye may be your girl! She's got a big heart, lots of energy, and plenty of love left to give. ❤️

Adoption Summary: Meet Chester! Our very own Treeing Walker Coonhound! His breed characteristics say it all. His beautiful singing abilities gets him a lot of attention, and we often cave to give him extra treats and walks. Chester is a bit under weight so the extra treats he could benefit from. He is very excited meeting all of us new people but after a while he does settle and enjoys a cuddle. Chester has lived with another dog. If your interested in Chester, please fill out an online application or come into the Maple Ridge Shelter to complete a paper copy. Due to many applications we receive daily, feel free to call us or come in once completed. We run on a first come first considered basis, and our visiting hours are 1-5pm every day except holidays.

The BC SPCA is honouring National Truth and Reconciliation Day by closing all its locations on Wednesday, September 30. This is in recognition of the history of residential schools in Canada and their impacts on Indigenous Peoples. The Society will also be ‘going quiet’ across all social media channels to respect and create space for Indigenous voices.
