❤️🐾 Four years ago today, I started a little page…
At the time, I was on leave from my career in insurance. I was at a point in my life where I knew I needed something different — something that gave me more joy, more purpose, and something to get me excited about getting out of bed in the morning.
I didn't have some grand plan to build a business. I definitely didn't imagine that within a year I would walk away from my career in business insurance, including benefits, paid holidays and a steady pay check and that this little idea would become my full-time life.
I just knew that dogs have always made me happy. ❤️🐾
Looking back four years later, it’s kind of incredible to think about how one small decision can completely change the direction of your life.
Sydney’s Sanctuary gave me what I was looking for back then — but it became so much more than that.
It gave me purpose. It gave me the confidence to take a chance on myself. It brought some pretty amazing people into my life. And, of course, it has filled my days with more furry faces, muddy paws, slobbery kisses, laughter and love than I ever could have imagined. 🐾😂
There have definitely been stressful days, long days, lessons learned and moments when I've wondered what on earth I got myself into. 😂 But I wouldn't trade this journey.
And none of what Sydney’s Sanctuary has become would have happened without the people who trusted me along the way.
Every person who handed me the leash to a dog they absolutely adore and trusted me to love and care for them — thank you. That trust is something I will never take lightly.
Thank you to everyone who booked that first stay, came back again, told a friend about me, shared a post, left a review, encouraged me, supported my crazy ideas and helped this little business grow and allowed me to make a living doing something that genuinely brings me joy. ❤️
Four years ago, I thought I was starting a page to bring a little more happiness and purpose into my life.
I had no idea I was actually starting a whole new chapter of it. 🥹❤️
If these last four years have taught me anything, it’s this:
Take the chance. Follow your heart.
