Turtle season is here in Ontario. 🐢

As temperatures warm up, turtles become more active and are often seen crossing roads, nesting, or moving between habitats.

Unfortunately, this also means they’re more likely to be injured or displaced.

If you find an injured or struggling turtle, do not try to treat it yourself. The best step is to contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator as soon as possible.

How do pet microchips actually work?

If a microchipped pet goes missing and ends up at a vet clinic or animal shelter, staff will use a special scanner to read the chip.

This chip contains a unique ID number, which links to a database with the pet owner’s contact info.

That’s why it’s so important to keep your info up to date with the microchip company—so if your pet ever gets lost, you can be reunited as quickly as possible!

Travelling internationally? Your pet may need a microchip! 🛩️

If you plan to travel or move to a different country with your pet, it is important to check the requirements.

Our veterinarians will have to complete export paperwork and many countries require pets to be microchipped or they will not be allowed in.

Check requirements EARLY and book an appointment as required! 🤳
