Does your dog sometimes get a red, itchy tummy?
It could be a contact allergy!
Common triggers for contact allergies in dogs include:
🌿 Grasses such as Couch, Kikuyu and Buffalo
🌿 Succulent ground plants such as Wandering Trad, Moses-in-a-cradle and Inch Plant
🌿 Native shrubs such as Grevillea
🌿 Harsh shampoos
🌿 Household chemicals such as detergents and carpet deodorisers
Contact allergies in dogs tend to manifest as red, bumpy, itchy skin in thinly furred areas such as the belly, groin, armpits, and the underside of the chest and tail. If your dog shows similar symptoms of irritation, we’d advise booking a check-up with one of our skin-savvy vets.
