Is your pet up to date with their tick and flea prevention?

Many people assume ticks are only a problem in the warmer months, but pets can still pick them up during winter.

This little patient came in with a tiny nymph tick attached near his eye. Nymph ticks are very small and can be difficult to spot, which is why prevention is so important.

Don’t let the cooler weather catch you out.
Year round tick and flea prevention is the best way to keep your pets protected. ❤️🐶🐱

Interesting case from Terranora Vets 💖

This sweet patient presented with a brownish tinge to her urine and frequent urination. Radiographs revealed bladder stones and Dr Ashleigh performed a cystotomy to safely remove them.

The patient is already feeling much more comfortable now that the stones have been removed. 🐶
A big thank you to our skilful Dr Ash for taking such great care of this pup ❤️

🦷✨ The Difference a Dental Can Make ✨🦷

In the “before” photo, heavy tartar build up was causing severe gingivitis and significant tooth pain. Inflamed, bleeding gums and infection like this are not just cosmetic, they are painful and can affect eating, behaviour, and overall health.

After a professional scale and polish, the tartar has been removed, the teeth are clean, and the gums can begin to heal. A healthy mouth means a happier, more comfortable pet 🐾

Dental disease is one of the most common conditions we treat and often goes unnoticed until it becomes advanced.

Dental Month Special – April & May
We are offering $150 off dental procedures during this time!

If you’ve noticed bad breath, red gums, or tartar build-up on your pet’s teeth, now is the perfect time to book in.

Ask our friendly team about Dental Month and how we can help keep your pet smiling!

🚨 Tick Paralysis Alert! 🚨

We’ve seen a rise in tick paralysis cases — one of the most dangerous (and sadly, sometimes fatal) conditions we treat in pets. 🐶🐱

The paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyclus) injects a toxin that affects the nervous system, causing weakness, breathing trouble, and paralysis.

⚠️ Signs to watch for:

🐾 Dogs: Wobbly back legs, vomiting, trouble breathing, lethargy, or a change in bark.

🐾 Cats: Weakness, drooling, wobbly movements, laboured breathing, or a weak meow.

💊 Treatment involves careful tick removal, supportive care, tick antiserum, and hospitalisation until recovery.

🌿 Prevention is key!
Tick paralysis is preventable — make sure your pet’s tick prevention is up to date and applied exactly on time.
Even a few days late can leave them unprotected.

✅ Daily tick checks
✅ Keep grass trimmed
✅ Ask us which prevention is best for your pet

Let’s keep our furry friends safe this tick season! 💚🐾
