The Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) is an initiative of Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) dedicated to finding homes for greyhounds after racing. Description
The GAP page is a place for greyhound adopters, friends of GAP, and fans of greyhounds as pets. Greyhounds make fantastic pets – they are quiet, lazy, and gentle dogs that thrive in the family home environment. Greyho
unds that have passed through the program have been awarded a special green GAP collar and do not have to be muzzled in public. Every greyhound that enters the program is thoroughly temperament tested, desexed, wormed, microchipped, and vaccinated. They then spend time with a volunteer foster carer to help them adjust from life in a kennel, to life in a pet home. Our foster carers aim to familiarise the greyhounds with a variety of situations they may not have experienced in the past, like walking upstairs or on slippery floors.
