Beanie’s story🐶🩷🐾
Beanie came into us last week after a few months of careful planning with her former owner.
She is a tiny Cavalier x Poodle, that had a severe issue with anxiety (she could not be left alone), and exacerbated energy levels that her owner could not keep up with.
The surrender process was difficult for her owner but I continually asked her to take her time, always sleep on her decisions and understand there will be a grieving period with her surrender.
We planned Beanie’s vet work in slow stages, we had her sterilised (please no more cav x poodle puppies!), and had all her vet work and vaccinations completed.
Beanie was gifted to one of our most gorgeous, talented carers and her kindhearted partner. Her new owner is highly experienced with dogs with behavioural issues and has a special sense of ‘dog communicative’ techniques, so they live their most happiest of lives.
In under a week, this girl has flourished! She has bush walks, play, a beautiful home and a gorgeous family to keep her company. She is now a different dog.
Happier, anxiety free and thriving.
Even though surrenders like this are difficult, a happy dog is a dog that has their needs met. Primarily being activity levels, environment and schedule.
It’s as simple as that.
Beanie’s former owner feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders, as she loved Beanie, but could not fulfill her requirements.
This is why my rescue is different.
We are emotionally ethical, we take our time, we love people and animals and believe that slow and steady always wins the race.
You can not just love animals in rescue, you must have an understanding that there are still brilliant, kind people in the world. Even with some horrible cases we see, there is always hope.
Remember owning a dog is a huge responsibility, do not take it lightly.
But great things can happen when you look after the needs of others, a lovely symbiotic relationship will form and happiness will ensue.
