RSPCA WA

RSPCA WA We are WA’s leading animal welfare charity organisation, preventing cruelty and promoting kindness.

When animals are let down by their owners, left helpless, traumatised and alone, they rely on RSPCA WA to step in and give them a second chance at life, love and happiness. Since 1892, RSPCA WA has worked tirelessly to prevent animal cruelty. We have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed animals of many kinds and given them a second chance. We have educated the community and lobbied the Government to

promote animal welfare and prevent cruelty. Our Mission:
Lead the improvement of animal welfare in WA through prevention and intervention programs, advocacy, and education. We do this through:
🐾 Promoting and enforcing animal welfare legislation and driving legislative change
🐾 Educating and influencing the community
🐾 Achieving organisational excellence and delivering best practice animal care. At RSPCA WA we are dedicated to improving the treatment of animals because we believe it strengthens our society, enhances our lives and contributes to a better world. We have made great strides towards our vision, but there is still a long way to go. RSPCA WA would simply not exist without individuals and organisations who share our vision. We rely on the generosity of animal lovers to contribute around $9 million each year, the majority of what it costs to carry out our animal protection work. In order to overcome the challenges of increasing demand, rising costs and a vast geographical service area, it is critical that RSPCA WA continue to grow its supporter base. Through personal donations and gifts, and corporate fundraising initiatives, as well as a calendar of events, we will work to connect with people who want to protect and save Western Australia’s most vulnerable animals.

After everything, Skye is still the sweetest girl. 🥺

Meet Skye, a 7-year-old gentle giant who just wants someone to love her back. It breaks our hearts to see that she has had little to no interest so far.

When Skye first came into our care in November, she had lots of health implications. Puss-riddled eyes, infected ears, and a slow lope of a walk due to painful arthritis.

But despite all that she is still so full of love.

In foster care, Skye has completely blossomed. She’ll follow you from room to room, settle quietly at your feet while you work, and greet you with the sweetest excitement when you come home. And if you catch her in a playful moment, her little triangle ears perk up in the cutest way. ✨

She’s a gentle, affectionate girl who just wants a calm home and someone to love and care for her needs properly.

Skye does have ongoing medical needs and is on a special terms adoption, so she’s looking for a special person who is ready to commit to her care and give her the comfort she’s always deserved.

The reality is dogs like Skye are so often overlooked because they need a little extra, even though they have so much love to give.

She would love to be your one and only dog, but can happily live with cats, and may suit a home with children (pending a meet).

🐾 If you’ve been thinking about adopting, let Skye be who you choose. She’s ready to fill your life with cuddles, companionship, and unconditional love.

And, if you can't adopt, please leave a ❤️ and repost this to your friends and family. Let's use the power of social media to find this sweet girl the home she's been waiting so long for.

Two dogs left in conditions no animal should endure. 💔

A Girrawheen woman has been fined $4,000 after leaving her two dogs tethered and confined in full sun, without access to shade or water, on a 30°C day.

When RSPCA WA inspectors arrived, they found Mini and Nunu in distress - panting, dehydrated, and exposed to extreme heat.

Mini had wrapped her chain tether around the base of the Hills Hoist several times, leaving her only 40cm of movement. She had no access to shelter, nor could she reach two water containers in the vicinity, both of which were subsequently found to be empty. Mini was barking and panting and appeared to be heat distressed.

Nunu, who was pregnant, was confined inside a wire crate positioned on top of brick pavers in full sun. The crate contained an empty shallow glass saucer. She cowered and urinated when an inspector approached her.

Both dogs were suffering from dehydration and heat stress. Without intervention, their condition could have been far worse.

Nunu later gave birth to six puppies in RSPCA WA care. She and her pups have since found loving homes. Mini was also adopted but sadly had to be euthanised just a year after she was seized.

Not everyone will choose them. That’s why it matters if you do.

Meet Rangi, Huka, Hina, Kiri and Rimu. ✨

Our little glowing kittens who are currently being treated for ringworm (a super common and very manageable condition) and already well on their way to being fully healed. Did you know cats with ringworm glow under a woods lamp?

Right now, what they need most isn’t more time in the shelter… it’s a home.

To make things a little easier:
💛 Adoption is just $50
💛 All treatment costs are covered by us
💛 You’ll have full support from our team along the way

What they need from you:
A small quarantine space (bathroom or laundry works perfectly), a couple of baths each week, fortnightly check-ups at our shelter until they are cleared, and a bit of extra love while they finish treatment.

They’ve already done the hard part. Now they just need someone willing to meet them halfway.

They might not be the “easy” choice, but they’re the ones who will mean the most, bringing extra love and shine into your world.

Don't scroll past Tank 💙

At nine years young, Tank still has plenty of love, tail wags, and companionship to give. Unlike his name, he's a gentle soul with a big heart, looking for a home to spend his golden years.

He’s happiest by your side, whether that’s on a walk, relaxing at home, or soaking up all the pats he can get. Tank could suit a family with kids (pending a meet) or even a calm older dog who matches his easy-going vibe.

Senior dogs like Tank don’t ask for much… just love, comfort, and someone to share life with. In return? You get the most loyal best friend.

Could you be Tank’s person? 🐾 Visit his profile linked in the comments below.

Local wildlife needs your help! 🚨

We’re urging pet owners to help protect local wildlife by keeping cats safely contained after finding dead possums at a primary school in Busselton.

So far this year, RSPCA WA has received 24 reports via its cruelty hotline concerning wildlife in the South West, 14 regarding marsupials, seven involving native birds, and three in relation to reptiles.

While it’s distressing to see the impact, cats are simply behaving as natural predators. The responsibility lies with us as owners to manage that instinct and prevent harm. Roaming pets can unintentionally injure protected native species and are also exposed to risks such as traffic, disease and injury.

Simple containment options (including cat runs, secure fencing or keeping cats indoors, particularly at dawn and dusk when wildlife is most active) can make a huge difference for both pets and wildlife.

Check out the links in the comments for more information.

EDIT: We understand why this post has attracted some of the comments it has - cats are often demonised in the media and we are sensitive to that too. To clarify, RSPCA WA is an organisation that advocates for the welfare of ALL animals - that includes encouraging people to contain their cats to their property for the health of safety of our beloved cats, as well as our wildlife. It's something we've advocated for many years, long before the current local government cat containment law debate started and is completely separate to that. It saddens us to see cats injured, lost or killed when they're allowed to roam, as much as it hurts us to see native wildlife put in harm's way unnecessarily. Our message is as simple as asking pet owners to please contain their animals for the welfare of all.

Your tabby clocked it instantly. A moved pillow, a new plant, their bedroom door closed when it absolutely shouldn’t be.

Now it’s your turn. Did you notice a change with your pet insurance?

If you have an active RSPCA Pet Insurance policy taken out before 1 April 2026, your policy remained with the previous underwriter, when the arrangement with them ended. That means your premiums may no longer support RSPCA initiatives.

Coming home to a policy that still supports the RSPCA is easy. We’ll help you switch back to the new RSPCA Pet Insurance - either on our PetShield offer which offers comparable cover to what you have or, you can get a quote on our new PetFlex customisable solution. Either way, you can enjoy no new waiting periods and Cover for previously claimed conditions – up to your existing annual limit and benefit percentage.

Because when it comes to care, your tabby knows there’s no place like home.

Check your policy, then come home today. RSPCA Pet Insurance

These sweet cats are looking for foster care, can you help them? 🥺

Meet Duckie, Sneezy, Shoundie, Mars, Goliath, Magenta, Marv, & Merrin. Not every cat who comes into our care is picture-perfect… but every single one is worthy of love.

Some are fighting off the flu. Some are healing from surgery. Others simply need time, patience, and a safe place to recover. The cats in these photos are the reality. And what they all have in common is that they shouldn’t be doing it alone in a shelter.

This is where compassion matters most, not judgement. They need someone to see past their illness and who can:
❤️‍🩹 Potentially quarantine from other cats or has a cat free home
❤️‍🩹 Make weekday vet appointments

Because time and time again, it’s these medically needy cats who are the real love bugs.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is your moment to make the biggest difference. You’ll be supported by the foster team every step of the way.

See them for who they are, not just what they’re going through. 🐾

Our foster application is linked in the comments below. If you can’t foster, liking and sharing this post could help these cuties find the person who can.

Hi everyone, I'm Marcus! 😁

I've officially been living my best life with my forever family who adopted me 6 months ago. An absolute 10/10 decision by everyone involved.

I'm a very happy, goofy and chill guy who brings lots of smiles into my home. My favourite things include going on walks, belly rubs, my cosy bed, snacks (which I deserve lots of because I'm such a good boy) and playing with my awesome humans!

Things I don’t enjoy: showers, swimming pools, and anyone even thinking about delaying my walk. I will grumble about it (my family thinks it’s adorable). I’m trying to be more stern and scary about it… but let’s be honest, I’m just way too cute for that.

At the end of the day, my favourite thing in the whole world is my family. They gave me a chance, and now we're all completely obsessed with each other! 🥰

Lots of love,
your favourite smiley pooch,
Marcus 🐾

Every dog deserves to be loved like Marcus, this is such a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

Pixel did everything right... and he's still waiting.

Earlier this month, we shared Pixel with you. In that short time, he was adopted and heartbreakingly returned the very next day.

Pixel turns one years old next week. He has been in our care since November, patiently waiting for someone to choose him. After surviving a car accident and losing one of his legs, Pixel has proven just how resilient he is. He lives pain‑free, happy, and full of love, and his missing leg doesn’t stop him from enjoying life one bit.

Sadly, Pixel was returned, not because of anything he did, but because of his three legs.

Pixel is gentle, kind, and affectionate. He’s a sweet boy who sometimes finds the world a little overwhelming, so he’s looking for a calm, understanding home where he can build confidence at his own pace. Once he feels safe, Pixel will reward you with unwavering loyalty and love.

Pixel has done nothing wrong. All he wants is a chance and a family that sees him for the incredible dog he is.

If you think you might be Pixel’s person, please come meet him at our Malaga shelter Tuesday to Friday and speak with our dedicated team. 💙 His profile is linked in the comments below.

If you can't adopt, please share this so Pixel has a bigger chance at finding his new forever home.

These three little cats took the journey of their lifetime last week.

Kevin, Shelly and Tasma arrived safely at our shelter after travelling all the way from Broome, thanks to our wonderful friends at AeroPets Animal Transport ✈️🐱

Their path here wasn’t straightforward. Thanks to the support of multiple agencies, these three were able to make the journey and get the fresh start they deserve.

They’re now settling in, getting some well-earned rest, and starting their next chapter with us. Kevin has already found his foster family and is thriving! We can’t wait for brighter days ahead for this trio. ✨

A big thank you to AeroPets Animal Transport who helped make their journey possible - we couldn’t do this work alone.

Stay tuned as we get to know Kevin, Shelly and Tasma a little better. 💕
