And that’s a wrap on Hound-Tees ✨Festival of the Hound 2026!✨

Our hearts are SO full after a jam packed day rubbing shoulders with the very best humans that this community has to offer; we connected to so many people that we’ve met here on IG, got to chat rescue and behaviour, and fit some super cute snoots with new gear (with the profits from sales funding our foster program, who were out in force today meeting new friends and having a fantastic time).

A huge thank you to Bell & Bone 🐾 Healthier Dog Food | Happier Life who came through when they were last minute contacted about a replacement treat pouch (broke the zip on our OG) to make sure we not only had a new one, but also heaps of treats to fill it with, along with stickers and balls to give out to visitors to our stall šŸ’œ

Days like today are made possible thanks to the amazing Jennifer Twitchett; in my near decade in rescue she has tirelessly shown up and walked the talk, supporting private rescues no matter what is going on in her life (not just through funds and products but through fostering, adopting, and volunteering her time). Her generous spirit and kind heart shines through all that she does, and we are beyond greytful for her!

Now if anyone needs us… We’ll be sleeping for the next 12 hours 😓

Although not unique to the greyhound breed (and while not all greyhounds assume the position!) ā€œroachingā€ is ubiquitous in the house horse community.

For those not in-the-know, roaching is a sleeping position in which the dog lays flat on their back with their legs splayed, named for the dead cockroach it apparently resembles.

An exposed tummy is an effective way to regulate temperature, and roaching may help your hound to cool down after getting too cosy and warm - but since canines are polyphasic sleepers (resting in shorter cycles across the day as opposed to one big stretch), it’s very normal to notice your houndie shifting through multiple positions in the course of one nap!

Let me know in the comments, do you have a roach problem in your household? Prefer the term greying mantis? Maybe you call it something else entirely?! šŸ‘‡

Welcome to the The District Docklands? Or welcome to the district, dog? šŸ˜‰ you decide!

My posing skills remain a work in progress. You gotta be quick to snap that shot when there’s people to greet, food to sniff, and window shopping to do. How cool is it that this mall in Melbourne welcomes four legged shoppers too?! We had lots of fun exploring this afternoon, and will be sure to swing by again soon.
