Sweet Redmond came in to see us today with an urinary blockage.

A urinary blockage is a serious and painful emergency, so Redmond needed prompt veterinary treatment to get him comfortable and safely unblock his bladder.

After treatment and some much-needed care, this handsome boy is on the road to recovery.

Remember: Straining to urinate, frequent trips to the litter tray, crying while urinating or producing little/no urine can be signs of a urinary blockage and should always be treated as an emergency.

Kaiya from CK Rescue came to us for a much-needed dental procedure.

Unfortunately, Kaiya’s teeth had been very neglected, and by the time he was rescued, his dental disease was Grade 4 out of 4. He required multiple extractions to remove the painful and severely diseased teeth.

🦷 At Western Animal Care, our dental clean under anaesthesia starts from just $420.

Smudge's latest adventure didn't quite go to plan!

After coming home with a severely injured toe, it unfortunately couldn't be saved, so our team carefully removed it to keep her comfortable and help her heal.

An emotional morning at the clinic 💖

Today we received an emergency call for a mother Chihuahua in distress who had been straining to give birth for hours. Dr Alexandra Yakovlev performed an emergency caesarean section while our veterinary nursing team worked tirelessly to provide intensive care to each newborn puppy.

Mum was carrying 8 puppies, none of whom were doing well when they were delivered. After over 30 minutes of intensive care, our incredible team managed to stabilise and save 5 puppies!

Their owner was overwhelmed and incredibly grateful. We're so proud of our team for fighting so hard to give every puppy the very best chance. 🐾

Our Dr Anita Peng recently performed entropion surgery on the lovely Iago from Cat People of Melbourne Rescue

Entropion causes the eyelid to roll inward, allowing the eyelashes to rub painfully against the eye. Iago can now look forward to a much more comfortable life without his eyelashes scratching his eye.

We wish this sweet boy a smooth recovery! When he's ready he will be up for adoption with his rescue ❤️
