I tied up Stormzy 1.5 metres to practice our social distancing rules around the block. Heck, I might even use this rule as our daughter grows up so the boys can stay 1.5 metres away... unless Stormzy is ok with it 😂
On a serious note, Stormzy has been getting a little too turnt around Cardi. Therefore I had to introduce the muzzle.
He hated it at first and was a serious challenge just to put it on. But after constant walks and taking him out in public, he eventually got comfortable with it on.

Yep it’s been awhile! Hope everyone has been well throughout this pandemic. We’ve been busy shuffling life around, raising a newborn and that.. thanks to those who reached out. One love 🙏
Our training has changed up abit. We’ll put in 3km runs and 10min slat mill sessions randomly throughout the week. They are no longer on raw and fed full kibble (Meals for Mutts)
Cardi weighs 40kg and Stormzy weighs 30kg. Overall the dogs love our daughter and have been well. We still hope to breed Cardi in the future ✌️

Playing with a dog or cat raises our levels of serotonin and dopamine. These are hormones that calm and relax the nervous system. When we smile and laugh at our pets’ cute behavior, that helps stimulate the release of these “happiness hormones.”

Moreover, interacting with a friendly dog reduces levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. And it increases the release of oxytocin—another chemical in the body that reduces stress naturally. That’s why animal-assisted therapy is so powerful.

Shut up, remain calm and get a dog fam 👊🏼

I gotta remind myself we got a Bully, not a Pitty 😆

When working and training each individual dog will have it’s own limits based on it’s own condition. If your dog likes to work and please it’s owner, it will continue to work without stopping and will hit that red line no matter what. Weather plays a major part in over heating aswell, so you’ll need to factor that in. It’s your responsibility to identify that red line and have a break, or end the sesh.

It’s abit different with performance working dogs. They will be pushed to the limit so they can perform their best in competitions. Same goes with humans as a professional athlete.
Depending on your circumstances and what you want to achieve - will determine how much to be tested.

✨ How I started
Our first dog was an American Staffordshire.
After some time I fell in love and became obsessed. I then studied abit on the APBT and American Staffordshire breed learning basics on their history and temperament. What I really enjoyed about the breed was their willingness to work. It was during that time I stumbled across the breed “American Bully”, basically an XL Pitbull.
This is where things change up quite abit and confused the f**k out of me. There were big, medium and small dogs. All had different colours and temperaments to complement. To make it harder this breed had only been introduced into Australia about 5-6 years ago.
Now I had to really educate myself on what was available in Australia. I wanted a dog with high drive that could still be a loyal companion within a family. That’s when I was recommended by a breeder in the states to see Bret from Rugged Bulls. He had not had a litter before which made it hard to see what he could produce. As a breeder I really liked his vision in what he would hope to achieve in a dog. He was super knowledgeable about the pedigree. We also had very common interests in working dogs and knew of the same people in the states which was a great start. I had to make a decision and start somewhere.
That’s when I pulled the trigger and now own an American Bully. Does she have the exact drive I was looking for? - No, but that’s the risk when you get a Bully.
Does she have ENOUGH drive for me to work her? - YES, and with a sweet, loving character to complement.
Bret did an awesome job with this production. I wouldn’t trade her for anything. She’s still very young so we’ve got a lot of work and growth to get where we want. As an upcoming breeder, I’m also growing... so we can always add some Chilli on the future menu 🌶 👨🏼‍🍳
