Yesterday we talked about how cooler weather can make changes in your dog’s skin and coat more noticeable ❄️

This photo is one of our favourites of Dave, who many of you know crossed the rainbow bridge a year ago 🤍

Looking back through old photos of him reminded us of one ingredient we’ve loved using in our formulations for years - h**p seed oil.

It’s incredible to see how much patience, care and training goes into raising these puppies 🦮

And yes… they still try to chew shoelaces sometimes.

This one will always be mine.

Lenny was just 10 weeks old here, sitting I my lap during his very first Houndztooth photoshoot with the incredibly talented .

Back then, I had no idea how much this little dog would become such a big part of my life — and the heart behind so much of what we create at Houndztooth.

Looking back now, it’s not the perfect photos I love most… it’s remembering that tiny puppy stage that goes by far too quickly.

Cold weather can affect senior dogs more than we realise ❄️

Sometimes the signs are subtle:
slower walks,
stiffness after resting,
sleeping more,
hesitating on stairs,
or changes in behaviour.

Many of us assume these changes are “just ageing” — but colder weather can often make underlying discomfort more noticeable.

Understanding your dog’s calorie needs can be a helpful starting point when it comes to supporting their overall health and wellbeing 🤍

A dog’s nutritional requirements can vary depending on:
• age
• activity levels
• life stage
• whether they’re desexed
• overall health

This simple calculation is known as Resting Energy Requirement (RER) — a guide often used to estimate how many calories a dog may need each day.

Remember, feeding guides are only a starting point. Your dog’s body condition, lifestyle and individual needs all matter too.
