Most species of WHITE BUTTERFLIES in Australia are NATIVE โ€“ and their caterpillars won't ruin any of your veggies!

The accidentally-introduced European 'Cabbage White' butterfly has pale dirty-yellow hind-wings with grey markings and will, typically, be the only white butterfly that will hang around the nearest patch of cabbage-related plants.

The male of the 'Yellow Albatross' looks similar โ€“ but is a little larger and usually has brighter yellow lower underwing and crisper black markings (the female looks quite different).

All species of 'Pearl-White' butterfly (which are all similar) are only a little smaller than a Cabbage White โ€“ but they have brighter โ€œpearly" or "chalky" white hind-wings and donโ€™t have any spots on their upper wings.

The 'White Migrant' is larger than all the others โ€“ but has very little in the way of markings on itโ€™s underwings at all. Itโ€™s upperwings very rarely open โ€“ except in flight.

Well hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ everyone, it's a beautiful day at my new location with a top of 36 predicted ๐Ÿ˜€
So with that I wanted to make sure everyone remembers that our feathered friends
WILL NOT ! ! drink water that is above their body temperature and why sometimes you think that you have done everything correctly yet ๐Ÿค” lost some birds ..
Please be sure to change water regularly and if you are unable to change water regularly make sure their water source is large and or flowing so they can access cooler water .
Here is some cute socks if anyones interested
Hope your new years all went well , I will be up and running soon,
I hope. My birds are still all in flight cages however actions have been made to get my aviary up and running and I'll once again have happy birds.
With my new home I've decided to make some new changes with the birds as I won't be showing and I'm going to do my best to create a more natural environment however keeping with certain protocols as so the birds do not become un well
Im.a bit exited its taken a long while to get to here and i can not wait to start sharing tips tricks and of cause ny birds and breeding help and advice as i myself come across problems than need to be addressed and shares as so our birds can have the best lifes possable .
Shareing infomation and teaching eachother what we know to prevent any mishaps is the best and safest way to learn as with birds you will never stop learning .
Be safe take care my friends โค๏ธ

Oviously ill be continuing my violet goldenface fallow Clearwing journey as I've been working on this line for some time now and the birds are unique and exquisite, l will up date all my progress with my new beginning when all the birds are set up and settled in and hopefully next year I will be breeding my first lot of chicks for the first time in for me quiet a while
Thanks everyone for sticking with me and your patience as I organise myself to embrace and embark on my new lifes journey.

Hey everyone ,
Im still about however have been taking a break from breeding this year .
Ive cut my birds back and have also made a decishion to breed more medium pet based coloured budgies i started their, and truly prefer the genetic challange of creating combination birds rather than show quality birds .
Part of my decishon has been the riseing cost of all the needed things to keep the exibition birds in top health and shape along with the cost of rings and the bcv membership its self .
Im remaining a member of Baw Baw Budgerigar Society Inc as they exept pet breeders and show breeders alike and its nice to have a clan of bird minded people .
Maybe in future ill pick up the challange of exibition breeding again but it wont be in the next 5 years and also depends on my finantial position ,ill still breed a few exibition birds for my own self challange but not to exibit
Alot has changed in my life in passed 5 years and ive been dealing with alot of self reflection and where im heading in my life and what i want to be doing and i have struggled to make a decishion on keeping birds or just selling all i have finally decided to just brรจed as a colour and varierty hobbiest and sell to pet homes as i did in the beginning in 2005 it just brings me more joy knowing my birds are becoming someones companion or small hobby stud of colourful birds where i can show people how to breed their prefered varierty as a hobbiest themselfs .
Well if you have read this far , thanks for your suport i will start tips n posting my birds again when i restart breeding but for now here are some my babys

This is a mauve Budgerigar
Mauve is a double dark factor bird .
Mauve is a very useful and sort after bird .
When you pair 2 mauves together
= 2 double dark factor birds )
The out come is 100 percent all mauve in nest = 2 dark factor birds )

If you pair a non dark factor bird
=no dark factor ( skyblue )
To a 2 dark factor bird mauve )
You produce
100 percent cobalt budgies cobalt =1 dark factor .

Dark factors, continued..
Cobalt blue ๐Ÿ’™ is 1 factor dark , if your wanting to create the cobalt effect on a Budgerigar, you will need at least one dark factor bird in your pairing
So example
Skyblue ร—cobalt =
Skyblues ( no dark factor birds ) and cobalt = 1 dark factor birds, Another pairing to produce cobalts is
Cobalt x cobalt With each bird being 1 dark factor bird resulting in 1 dark factor Budgerigars,
1 dark factor= ( cobalt )
And
2 dark factor
Budgerigars =(mauve )
also resulting in some non dark factor birds =skyblue ( non dark factor).

1 dark factor ( cobalt bird )
X 2 dark factor bird = (mauve bird )
Results in all 1 dark factor birds (cobalt = 1 dark factor birds in nest ) as well as 2 dark factor birds in nest = (mauve )

But for best reaults to breed cobalt the use of a skyblue x mauve
Skyblue being no dark factors and mauve being 2 dark facrors results in all cobalts = ( 1 dark factor birds in nest )
once you began to reconise the main three dark factors in Budgerigars, you can then think about and learn how to manipulate the "violet factor "into the mix to result in the much sort after
violet Budgerigar!
i will be creating a visual board for double dark factor so you can easily referance each factor our budgie freinds hold
How ever if you can remember the three main Budgerigars colours ( remembering im only useing blue based birds to demonstrate)
which are listed below, whithout adding any other factors in eg "violet or grey ,or any other mutation like yellow face or golden face and bring it back to basics the dificultys fall away makeing it easy for anyone to learn.๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Œthe bases to colour genetics in Budgerigars
so remembering
skyblue=no dark factor
cobalt =1 dark factor
mauve =2 dark factors
is basically all you need to start your own easel of beautifully coloured Budgerigars.

When breeding for colours its important to have at least a basic knowledge of genetics to ensure that you have the correct coloured birds to combine to create your desiered out come .
To understand that each colour has three diffrent depths of each colour and within thoughs depths of colours lays the key to all the colourful, colour outs you could desire and all you need to understand is how the dark factors work ,how to create them and how even the way you breed them can influence the probabilities of you breeding .
Here are some examples of skyblue budgies
As you can see even skyblue its self haveing no dark factor still has within its range three depths of colour depending on the bird and its varieties/mutation.
Depth of colour is always desirable in our birds to create vibrancy so always chooseing the birds with a all over colour depth is recommended.
The opaline hen has a wonderful all over vibrancy and consistency of colour as does the normal skyblue c**k bird makeing them both extremely good additions to a breeding programme.
