Dark factors, continued..
Cobalt blue ๐ is 1 factor dark , if your wanting to create the cobalt effect on a Budgerigar, you will need at least one dark factor bird in your pairing
So example
Skyblue รcobalt =
Skyblues ( no dark factor birds ) and cobalt = 1 dark factor birds, Another pairing to produce cobalts is
Cobalt x cobalt With each bird being 1 dark factor bird resulting in 1 dark factor Budgerigars,
1 dark factor= ( cobalt )
And
2 dark factor
Budgerigars =(mauve )
also resulting in some non dark factor birds =skyblue ( non dark factor).
1 dark factor ( cobalt bird )
X 2 dark factor bird = (mauve bird )
Results in all 1 dark factor birds (cobalt = 1 dark factor birds in nest ) as well as 2 dark factor birds in nest = (mauve )
But for best reaults to breed cobalt the use of a skyblue x mauve
Skyblue being no dark factors and mauve being 2 dark facrors results in all cobalts = ( 1 dark factor birds in nest )
once you began to reconise the main three dark factors in Budgerigars, you can then think about and learn how to manipulate the "violet factor "into the mix to result in the much sort after
violet Budgerigar!
i will be creating a visual board for double dark factor so you can easily referance each factor our budgie freinds hold
How ever if you can remember the three main Budgerigars colours ( remembering im only useing blue based birds to demonstrate)
which are listed below, whithout adding any other factors in eg "violet or grey ,or any other mutation like yellow face or golden face and bring it back to basics the dificultys fall away makeing it easy for anyone to learn.๐๐the bases to colour genetics in Budgerigars
so remembering
skyblue=no dark factor
cobalt =1 dark factor
mauve =2 dark factors
is basically all you need to start your own easel of beautifully coloured Budgerigars.
