Cherry is 6.9kg of sweetness who is just beginning to discover what life is all about. After spending her life as a puppy farm dog, watching her discover the simple things in life has been pretty special. And guess what? She’s even finding toys!

Cherry loves her humans, a warm lap on the couch and all the pats she can get. She tries to convince her foster siblings to play, but they’re not quite interested in her invitations just yet!

She’s still building her confidence with new noises on walks, working on her toilet training and learning about the doggy door. She can get anxious when her humans leave, so a patient home where people are around a good part of the day would suit her well.

Cherry has had her left eye surgically removed and is doing well. She has mild luxating patellas that don’t require surgery, and her ears need weekly cleaning and regular checks. She’ll also need regular grooming.

Cherry doesn’t need a perfect home. She needs a kind, patient one that understands she’s still learning, gives her time to settle and lets her discover just how wonderful life can be.

In return, you’ll get a little girl who adores you, loves a cuddle and is ready to keep discovering the world, one little step at a time ❤️

Hazel is happily settled into her new home, and we couldn’t be happier for this little girl!

We worked closely with our own vets on Hazel’s skin concerns while she was in our care, and her skin is likely to be an ongoing roller coaster. There will hopefully be good periods, but there may also be times when things flare up, and finding the right way to manage it will take ongoing care and patience.

Her new family understand this and are working with their vets to explore the best course of action for Hazel and her individual needs.

Sometimes rescue isn’t about finding a home where everything is perfect. It’s about finding a family who understands that some challenges don’t simply disappear, but chooses to take them on anyway.

That’s exactly what we wanted for Hazel. A family who sees her for the little dog she is, not just the skin issues she comes with.

We’re so happy she’s found her place in the perfect home 💕

Cherry has discovered toys!!

Something so simple that we probably take for granted, but for Cherry, it’s something new.

After spending her life as a puppy farm dog, she’s now discovering a whole world she never knew existed. The little things that most dogs grow up knowing are all new experiences for her.

Just imagine a life where you’ve never known the joy of playing with a toy, the comfort of a warm lap or the feeling of being loved simply for being you.

And then, one day, your world changes.

Cherry is discovering what it means to just be a dog. To play, to feel safe, to be loved. She can’t get back the life she missed out on, but we can make sure the life ahead of her is filled with all the things she’s always deserved 💕

Little Teddy had his dental surgery yesterday, with 11 teeth extracted, along with a thorough scale and polish.

He wasn’t feeling too good afterwards and didn’t want to eat, so he spent most of his time sleeping in foster mum Giulia’s arms, where he clearly felt safe and loved.

Thankfully, he’s eaten this morning, although he’s still feeling a little groggy and taking things quietly while he recovers.

Teddy had a rough start to life, and it’s hard not to wonder how long he’d gone without the care he needed.

He really is the sweetest little soul, and we’re so glad he’s now getting the love, comfort and veterinary care he deserves.

Rest up, little Teddy. You’re in good hands now 💙

Harriet is Cherry’s foster sister and she’s usually not particularly accommodating when it comes to sharing her space… but she made an exception for Cherry and happily let her use her as a pillow.

Cherry really is just the sweetest girl. She follows her foster mum everywhere, loves being close and has discovered that a warm lap is a pretty wonderful place to be.

And while it might seem like such a little thing to us, I can’t help but think this is probably something Cherry has never really experienced before.

After spending so much of her life having puppies and being used for breeding, she’s now learning that life can be about so much more.

Soft beds. Gentle hands. A warm lap. Being beside someone just because you want to be. And discovering what it feels like to simply be loved.

For now, we’re not looking for her next chapter just yet. Cherry has spent enough of her life giving to others. Right now, she gets to rest, be spoiled, learn what it feels like to be someone’s girl and, most importantly, finally just be Cherry 💕

From a home where he was neglected, to a home where he is finally learning what it feels like to be loved.

This is little Teddy, our tiny Toy Poodle boy, and he’s been in care for almost two weeks now.

When Teddy first arrived, everything was new. He wasn’t particularly frightened, but you could tell he just wasn’t sure what was expected of him. He quietly trotted around his foster home, taking everything in and watching the other dogs.

And then, little by little, he started to work it out.

He discovered the doggy door. He had his dinner. He climbed onto the couch and snuggled in. And when bedtime came, he watched the other dogs to see what they were doing before eventually snuggling right up against his foster mum and sleeping soundly.

Now, almost two weeks later, we’re seeing a different little Teddy.

He’s running around with the other dogs, getting excited when everyone wakes up, using the doggy door all by himself and starting to relax into this new life.

He’s also had his vet assessment and is booked in for a much-needed dental next week, so we can get his little mouth feeling as good as possible.

There’s something pretty special about watching a dog who has known neglect discover the simple things most of our dogs take for granted — a soft bed, a full tummy, a warm home, other dogs to follow and, most importantly, people who love him.

Teddy is still learning.

But he’s learning that people can be kind.

That home can be safe.

That he can sleep soundly.

And that life is getting better.

We can’t change what happened to Teddy before he came to us, but we can make damn sure the rest of his life is very different 🩵

💙 YUKI IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 💙

Oh, Yuki. This little guy is such a character!

Yuki is a Japanese Spitz with a huge personality packed into one very fluffy little body. He’s brave, confident, playful and affectionate — and completely convinced he’s a big dog!

He absolutely loves other dogs and must have a canine friend in his new home. He currently lives with an Irish Wolfhound, Deerhound and Staffy and happily keeps up with the big boys all day. They play, wrestle and get into plenty of mischief together.

And then there’s Yuki’s love of water! 💦 Swimming, puddles, paddling pools, hoses… he doesn’t care what it is, if there’s water, he’s in it!

He loves car rides, exploring the garden, going on adventures and being involved with his people. He’s a social boy who loves a cuddle and thrives with company.

Of course, that beautiful white coat comes with a commitment. Yuki needs regular, thorough brushing and extra grooming when he blows his coat, so his new family will need to be prepared for a lifetime of coat care.

Apparently we rescued a Japanese Spitz, not a fish!

Yuki has discovered the water fountain and, quite frankly, he’s OBSESSED.

Drinking from it? ✅
Playing in it? ✅
Standing in it? Absolutely ✅
Getting completely soaked for no apparent reason? OF COURSE ✅✅

He is the happiest little man and if there’s water involved, Yuki is there. No invitation required.

Honestly, Yuki… it’s a fountain, not a swimming pool 💚

❤️ Freddie has been adopted! ❤️

After trawling through SOOO many applications for our handsome boy, we know there are going to be quite a few disappointed people who didn’t get to take Freddie home.

But sometimes one application just feels right, and Kate’s certainly stood out to us. And now we get to say that Freddie and his new fur brother Harvey are doing great together.

And Jo… thank you.

You opened your home to Freddie, gave him your time, your patience and so much love, knowing all along that the goal was to eventually let him go.

We know how hard that part is. You care for them, get to know all their little quirks, watch them settle and become part of your family… and then someone else gets to take them home. It’s one of the hardest parts of fostering, even when you know it’s exactly what you’re working towards.

We can’t help but fall in love with so many of our foster dogs… although, granted, some are definitely more lovable than others!

Freddie definitely left his paw print on us, and we’re so happy he’s found his people.

We know you don’t need any good luck vibes, Freddie boy, but heck… we’re sending them anyway.

This is Cherry. And this is what a puppy farm can leave behind.

Cherry is 6½ years old.

For most of her life, she wasn’t someone’s much-loved companion. She wasn’t curled up on a couch. She didn’t have a soft bed beside her family at night.

She was a breeding dog.

Her purpose was to produce puppies.

Again and again.

In July, Cherry was seized by the inspectorate from a large group of Oodle breeding dogs and assessed by the medical team at RSPCA Victoria.

When she came into the shelter, she was incredibly shut down.

She didn’t know how to walk on a lead. She was frightened about having her ears touched. She had severe ear infections, fractured teeth, a luxating patella and needed necessary dental work.

And then they examined her eyes.

Her left eye had severe glaucoma caused by a luxated lens. There was significant inflammation, damage and congestion.

She was living with severe, chronic pain.

Pain that had been going on for who knows how long.

Pain that she couldn’t tell anyone about.

Pain that had simply become part of her life.

Her left eye had to be removed.

And this is where Cherry’s story should make us angry.

Because this isn’t just about one little dog with a bad eye.

This is about what happens when dogs are treated as breeding equipment instead of living, feeling animals.

When their value is measured in puppies.

When their bodies are expected to keep producing.

When their health, comfort and happiness become secondary to the money they can make.

Cherry deserved so much more than that.

She deserved to know what a couch was.

She deserved a soft bed.

She deserved to run through a dog door.

She deserved to dance when her people came home.

She deserved to wake up without pain.

And now, finally, she is getting to discover all of those things.

At the shelter her eye was removed. Her dental work done. Her ears treated and healed. Her pain controlled - thank you RSPCA.

And the change in Cherry since her arrival has been incredible.

Mum Carolynne tells us, “last night she sat on the couch with us before bed.

Then she climbed into her soft bed beside us and slept until 5am.

Today, when I came home, she did the most beautiful little dance on her back legs.

I didn’t have my phone ready.”

But honestly, maybe that’s okay.

Because sometimes you just need to stand there and watch.

Watch a dog who has spent 6½ years being used finally realise that someone has come home for them.

Cherry still needs to learn so much. We’re not going to rush her.

We’re going to let Cherry show us who she is.

And already, we’re seeing a very sweet, very gentle little girl who is beginning to realise that life can be good.

There will be no more puppies for Cherry.

No more breeding.

No more puppy farm.

No more untreated pain.

No more being valued for what her body can produce.

Just Cherry.

Loved because she is Cherry.

And after everything she has been through….
