It’s never too late to find love and start over again…

Smurf, now Murphy, is proof that our little oldies still have so much love to give — and so much life left to live.

Our senior man has settled beautifully into his new vibe, and today his 14-day adoption trial came to an end with the best news… his adoption is officially confirmed!

Murphy has found his person in his new mum, Brenda, and we couldn’t be happier for them both.

Congratulations Brenda & Murphy! We hope you have many happy years together.

And once again, we couldn’t do what we do without our amazing foster carers who go above and beyond for every dog who comes through our doors.

To Carolynne & Tristan, thank you for giving Smurf a warm place to land, a safe space to simply be himself, and most importantly, for helping him find his best family.

We are so grateful for you both.

OLLIE HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER FAMILY!

Our gorgeous Ollie has found his new family, and we couldn’t be happier for him!

Ollie is now home with his dad Robert and his new fur sister Melody, and he has settled in beautifully. He’s loving exploring his new surroundings, getting to know his new family and enjoying all the comforts of home.

A huge thank you to his wonderful foster mum Jo for opening her home and heart to Ollie, giving him the love, care and security he needed while he waited for his forever family. We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing foster carers.

And now it’s time for Ollie to enjoy the next chapter of his life — exactly where he belongs.

Congratulations Ollie, Robert & Melody! We wish you all a lifetime of love, cuddles and happy memories together ♥️

A huge thank you again to Mandi and her team at Dashing Designer Dogs Mornington for working their magic on our gorgeous boy Freddie.

Freddie arrived with fleas, which thankfully have now been treated, but that left him with lots of flea dirt, along with a very matted coat that was definitely in need of some serious TLC.

After some much-needed pampering, a lot of patience and plenty of skill, Freddie has been restored to his crowning glory!

We’re so incredibly grateful to Mandi and the team for always being there for the dogs in our care who need a professional to help take away the dirt, grime and neglect they sometimes arrive with. Not all of our dogs have simply popped in somewhere for a groom — some arrive needing a lot more than a bath and a brush, and having someone who understands that makes such a difference.

And to everyone who has been contacting us asking “When is Freddie going up for adoption?”…

💗 PEPPA & CHILLI ARE STILL WAITING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME 💗

These two beautiful young girls are still looking for their very own family — and honestly, they are going to give you endless love, laughs and plenty of entertainment!

Chilli and Peppa are a bonded pair and will only be rehomed together. They absolutely adore each other and are happiest when they have their best mate by their side.

These girls are NOT couch potatoes! They love to play, explore and even enjoy a bit of gardening 🌱🐶 — so we’re looking for a family who enjoys an active lifestyle and wants two little companions to be involved in everyday life.

They have so much love to give and are just waiting for someone to see what we see in them.

Anyone who’s ever had a Cavvie will know just how incredibly sweet and gentle they can be, and our beautiful Freddie is showing us exactly why this breed is so loved.

It hasn’t taken long for Freddie to realise that he’s safe, and he’s settling beautifully into life with foster mum Jo and her little pack.

He’s loving the attention, sleeping snuggled up with his new buddies and soaking up every cuddle he can get. In fact, he’s made himself so comfortable that if there’s any room left on the bed, Jo might even get a tiny sliver to sleep on!

Freddie has had his vet check and is booked in for a dental next Monday. Unfortunately, his groom had to be cancelled when we discovered a very severe flea infestation, but that’s now been treated, he’s been wormed and we’re getting him back to feeling his absolute best.

Next week is a big one for our boy — dental and then, once he’s ready, a much-needed groom. After that, Freddie will be ready to take the next step and find the family who will love him for the rest of his life.

For now, though, he gets to simply be a dog. To sleep somewhere warm and safe, have a full tummy, make new friends, get all the cuddles he wants and learn just how good life can be.

Please bear with us until we put Freddie’s adoption post up. We won’t be accepting applications or answering general enquiries about adopting Freddie until he is officially ready.

When he’s ready, you’ll know. And we have a feeling there’s going to be a LOT of love waiting for this gorgeous boy 💙

Jack has officially found his home 🏡

When Jack came into our care in early August, he had severe dental disease and chronic dermatitis. His coat was in poor condition, greasy and smelly, with staining around his tail and groin area, and his skin was inflamed and irritated.

Jack had spent his life as an inside/outside dog and, sadly, his previous home circumstances meant his needs weren’t always able to be met. We won’t go into the personal details, but it was clear that Jack needed someone to give him the care, stability and love he deserved.

He came to Sweet Paws, had his much-needed dental, and with ongoing skin care his dermatitis is now stable. Most importantly, Jack has found something even more important than treatment… he has found his family.

His foster mums, Kelly and Tina, have decided that this gorgeous boy is officially a foster fail!

Thank you, Kelly and Tina, for giving Jack the one thing he had been missing — a place where he can feel safe, loved and wanted every single day.

No more wondering what tomorrow brings, no more waiting for someone to choose him. Jack has been chosen, and he’s staying right where he is.

We couldn’t be happier for you, Jack ♥️

🐾❤️ Happy International Dog Day! ❤️🐾

Today, August 26, is International Dog Day — a day that began in 2004 thanks to animal advocate Colleen Paige, originally as National Dog Day in the US, and has since grown into a worldwide celebration of our four-legged friends.

But for us at Sweet Paws Dog Rescue, every day is about dogs.

It’s about dogs like Cece, who recently came into our care after being found in a pretty sad state. Today, instead of being alone in a shelter, Cece is tucked up in warm, soft blankets, being loved and cared for in her foster home.

From the shelter to a safe place. From uncertainty to comfort. From being overlooked to being cherished.

And Cece isn’t the only one.

It’s about the dogs who arrive scared, neglected, surrendered or simply needing someone to give them a second chance. It’s about watching them slowly realise that life can be different.

It’s about the foster carers who open their homes and hearts, the vets who work their magic, the people who donate to help pay their bills, and ultimately the families who say, “Yes, you’re coming home with us.”

International Dog Day is a reminder of something we believe very strongly in — every dog deserves a chance.

A safe home. A warm bed. A full tummy. Proper medical care. Someone to love them. And the chance to simply be a dog.

So today, celebrate your own dog, spoil them a little more than usual (as if they need an excuse 😂), and spare a thought for the dogs still waiting for their second chance.

Because sometimes, something as simple as a warm blanket, a safe home and someone who cares can completely change a dog’s world.

Welcome to Sweet Paws Dog Rescue, beautiful Freddie!

There’s always a story behind the dogs who come into rescue, and Freddie’s is a little sad.

Freddie is a gorgeous 4-year-old purebred Cavalier who has come into our care as a surrender. His family have been struggling and, after a lot of thought, made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome him because they felt they could no longer give him the time and attention he deserves.

And now this beautiful boy is with us.

A huge thank you to foster mum Vanessa for helping get Freddie safely to us, and to foster mum Jo for opening her home and sending us these gorgeous updates:
It sounds like Freddie has settled in as though he’s always been here. He’s not timid at all and has just slotted straight in. In fact, Jo says he is the most amazingly adaptable, chilled-out boy. He slept in Hattie’s bed beside her, didn’t move until one of them did, and when he was let outside, he simply trotted back to bed and went straight back to sleep!

Freddie is an absolute darling.

There’s a little bit of work for us to do now. His coat is very long and a little matted, and his paws can barely be seen, so we’re hoping to get him booked in for a much-needed groom as soon as we can. We’ll also get his vet check underway and make sure he’s up to date with everything he needs.

For now, Freddie is simply settling in, being loved and getting to know his foster family.

🚨 IMPORTANT: Freddie is NOT available for adoption yet and we are NOT accepting enquiries or applications at this stage. Please don’t message us asking about adopting him. Once he has had his vet work completed, settled properly into foster care and we know exactly what he needs, we’ll let everyone know when the time is right.

🌭 950+ SAUSAGES, 30KG OF ONIONS & ONE VERY STINKY GARAGE! 😂

Yesterday we absolutely smashed it at our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser, selling more than 950 snags! 🌭👏

And let’s rewind to Friday afternoon… when Sean and Carole peeled and sliced 30kg of onions. Yes… 30 KILOS. 😂

Our garage still smells like onions. I’m not even sure that smell is ever leaving.

But was it worth it?

A resounding YES! ❤️

Because every single cent raised goes straight back into Sweet Paws Dog Rescue to help us care for the dogs in our care. And that makes all the onion tears, sore feet, BBQ smoke and questionable garage smells completely worth it. 🐾❤️

A HUGE thank you to our incredible team who gave up their Saturday to make it all happen.

🔥 Sean – our BBQ Captain!
The man who has this whole operation running like a well-oiled machine. Leaving home at 6.30am to collect the day’s supplies and set up everything we need. Sean, we honestly couldn’t do it without you. ❤️

🌭 Our morning team:
Richard and Martin, our BBQ cooks. We know how hard you worked and we appreciate you being there and supporting us.

And Bren, our man on the money! 💰 The guy we call every time we have a BBQ… which, to be honest, is every BBQ! 😂 Thanks Bren, you’re a star!

Den and Sean No.2 — the team who keep on giving! The laughs continue while the sausages keep cooking. We absolutely love the fact you two can multitask quite so spectacularly! 😂

Carole, normally Den’s partner in crime on the cooking show, was promoted to taking orders and money… and you rocked it! 👏

And Summer, our youngest team member, who was constantly replenishing the food as fast as we could sell it. It’s so lovely to see younger people willing to give up their time to support charities they care about. ❤️
