Ellerton Zahra Racing is the training partnership of Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra and located at the Flemington Racecourse. Mat & Simon have worked in the racing industry for most of their lives with extensive experience and success at the highest level and consistently produce city and group quality horses. We're a hands on team with a focus on owner communication and ensuring each horse is treated with respect and as an individual to ensure they reach their full racing potential.

Freshened with a month between runs after finishing a good third giving chase at Sale. Tackles the mile again here & has trialled well in the interim. Looking to see her get back to her better form here, drawn well & looking for another honest performance.

Third-up since a month freshen up that saw him return a winner at Flemington over this trip. Honest over the mile last time out where he was challenged early & weakened in the heavy going. Gets back on top of the ground & drops back to 1400m here which should suit. Presents in peak fitness & drawn to get a good run. Looking for another solid effort here.

Looking to bounce back in a lesser grade here the gelding presents in peak fitness & has the addition of blinkers today. A good second over the mile three starts back he had little luck in the running since but draws well here. Looking to see him improve today.

Presenting for her second career start here the filly was sound on debut where she sat on the speed & just tired late. Fitter for that run & with the benefit of that experience she has to overcome the awkward barrier but looking for another promising run with good race to race improvement.

Second-up here the filly resumed with a solid second over the 1100m. Fitter for that run she draws well here & looking for another solid effort today.

Third-up here & stepping out to 1400m. The gelding is fitter again third-up & should relish the step up in trip. Will be more suited to the tempo over this distance & is still learning his ring craft but looking for some improvement today.

8. MISS MELANIE (3) – D Thornton 57.5kg
Having her third career start here the mare showed some improvement second-up when racing on a heavy track. Fitter again & should relish the step up in trip & the slower tempo. Still learning her ringcraft but draws well & looking for further improvement from her today.
